Is Nexus' sawtooth sampled?

there are a lot of sampled sawtoothes in Nexus but it also has some basic oscillators with things like sine and saw that are not sampled but generated in realtime.

there had been many questions about this in the refx/V forum some time ago, and I was very interested in this question, too, so I still know the answers: it has Saw, Pulse (with PWM), Square, Sine, Triangle, White Noise, blue Noise, and various mixed/morph waveforms, which are generated in realtime and are complete alias-free.

So, contrary to popular opinion, Nexus is a synth. so it's a sort of magic black box?
do you have to pay extra to do something with it? A 'turn knobs' extension maybe?

You can't even pay extra for it. They decide which select people are allowed to use it, and they're only allowed to use it to design sounds for REFX.spaceman wrote:so it's a sort of magic black box?

it's pretty much all said, here's a bit more, but still rough explanation:
it's a very powerful substractive engine, where you can decide in 4 layers if you want to feed the engine with samples or realtime osc's (with unison osc modes, too) or any combination ... every layer has it's own signal flow + ringmodulator, on top of that you have independant layer insert fx, independant layer eq, and you can choose which of the 4 simultanious osc's you feed whatever of the 4 layers (you can also send one osc into all 4 layers, etc) ... all that is completed with a summary fx section, patchbased, and a summary eq ... etc, etc...

To elaborate a bit more on the oscillators - they use BLEP synthesis at their core (same as, for example, xhip and ASynth). However, they're expanded from that to allow all sorts of neat morph things while still having no audible aliasing. And, as mentioned, there's a unison mode which doesn't have a linear increase in processing time (I believe that, too, is similar to how it is in xhip).
Each waveform is actually a "mini-program" which tells the oscillator engine exactly how to render each waveform, with morphing and everything. This is insanely flexible and allows implementing alot of waveform types. To top it off, it's brilliantly fast - faster even than sample playback on normal and high quality modes. It's faster than the Vanguard oscillators too (and, in my personal opinion, better sounding).
(before you ask - no, xhip and Nexus have nothing to do with each other)
