I have no musical competence whatsoever. The vast majority of, if not all, the tracks i make, are my attempts at 'emulating' others, but never being able to.

Post

I generally dislike most synth sounds and most synth-based music. Especially bleeps and bloops, saws, analog crap, 'one key press' evolving space music shit, new age, nearly any synth drums, dance, hip hop, and so forth.

Seriously...

Even though I would be considered an 'electronic musician' by most.

I also tend to think keyboard players look ridiculous on stage playing in a band...even though I can play keys to an extent myself.

I f**king HATE love songs, regardless of genre.

I dislike happy-sounding or positive music, regardless of genre.

Where did you say you lived again...? :hihi:

I have a pathological, irrational hatred of The Veronicas and secretly devise schemes and plots to reveal them for the frauds they are.

Sorry, a few more that I have to confess to the world:

I think the synthbass in Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up is actually quite cool.

I think the Top Gun soundtrack is pretty damn good.

The toms in the Miami Vice soundtrack are wicked. Actually, gated reverb on drums is not that bad.

I once thought the third "rousing" transposed chorus in Celine Dion's Heart Must Go On was emotio... dang, this is hard.... pretty evocative. Once. Not anymore. Promise.

I like "set and forget" compressors and EQs—I don't tweak compressors and EQs for each sound/song .

There, that feels better.

I have a single by Britney Spears. And one by Celine Dion. I like them both a lot.

Britney Spears maybe for the wank possibilities but Celine Dion????

It's not even for that, I really like the songs :(
To rule that out, I'll even confess I have a single by Westlife. And I like that, too...

I love playing in a cover band.
I love watching people get drunk and dance.
Every band I've been in, I've thought I can sing better than the lead singer.

I have a fondness for digital synths over analog - guess the love affair begain with a CZ1000 back in the 80's  .

Ableton Live has been pretty much pants ever since Verion 4 (would have prefered be an Audio Only App myself) .

I think Aphex Twin, Autechre and SquarePusher are overated - they have their good moments but the wank factor often gets the better of them.

Most (not all) electronic Dance music has sucked major ass since around 94' and I still think most stuff released between 87-92 still holds it's own and is far more viney than whateever "insert genre" is hip right now.

The "E" generation are a bunch of perennial tossers.

Listening to Top 40 chart music is like f**king torture 99 of the time .

I love my Yamaha RS7000 and Fusion 8HD and one of my all time favourite synths is the Kawai K4R.

Youth IS most definately overated.

The Bronski Beats "Age of Consent" is actually quite a good record.
