I think this is probably a really dumb question but I can't seem to get the instrument order correct in ST 2.5! My preference is alphabetical in the browser window but, for some reason, instruments start at Woodwinds and then are jumbled up below that? Any suggestions, I seem to remember seeing something about this but I've searched and checked manuals but nothing obvious hits me
Many thanks in advance

Hmm, certainly should be alphabetical.

Just a vague thought - what OS and disk file system (NTFS, FAT ?) are you using?

The instruments are on a FAT32 USB external drive 750GB ... any ideas?

I vaguely recall people having problems with dispalying items on a FAT disk in alphabetical order in energyXT. I can't remember the details.

'Fraid that there is no option in ST2 to sort the files.

a) raise a support ticket with IKMM - they have usually responded pretty quickly to me; but it's is the weekend, and it's Christmas time);

b) if you can, create a small second partition somewhere, using NTFS, and copy a few .sth, sti and .stw files (in a non-alphabetical order) into it, then select that as your ST2 Library temporarily and see if they are displayed in alphabetical order.

Is the order of instrument files alphabetical in the actual folder? I would try this: Go to the actual folder and click the 'name' bar a couple of times until you get the alphabetical listing the way you want it. Then, open sampletank and hit 'Relist.'

If you haven't already done this, give it a try while you're waiting for customer service to call you back. :D

Guys
Thx for the replies I have been away unexpectedly ... I will check these out over the next couple of days

Just thought I would respond on this for information to others.
The response from IK was;
SampleTank itself doesn't give you any options for changing the order that the
instruments/folders are displayed. It simply picks up whatever it finds in
the Sampletank instruments folder.
If you are unhappy about the display order, you could create a new instruments
folder (empty) then copy into it all of the instrument files in the order you
require them to be displayed.

Coincidentally, I have just had to rebuild a new USB drive as my previous 500G failed (now got 1TB yummy!). This time I used NTFS and hey presto, all of my libraries/files are in the order you would expect! NTFS it is then!

All the best
Don
