Are there any additional sample packs available for Sonik Synth 2? Anybody sharing Combis?
I'm working on some Combis now if anyone is interested.

Sonik Synth 2 is closed. You can't add new samples or sample packs. But I think a lot of people may be interesed in combis.

Shame. Seems like Squids would have pumped out a few expansion packs. Curious that IK made it a completely closed format.Reverend Rhythm wrote:Sonik Synth 2 is closed. You can't add new samples or sample packs. But I think a lot of people may be interesed in combis.

I think Miroslav, SampleMoog, and SampleTron are all closed. But ST will play them all.

I can see Tron and Moog being closed since they are emulations. I have the feeling that Squids would have access to the software that can create Sonik Synth ,sth .sti and .stw files. I suppose I could just use the SS files in ST 2.5Reverend Rhythm wrote:I think Miroslav, SampleMoog, and SampleTron are all closed. But ST will play them all.

Actually now that I look at the two side by side there doesn't seem to be any reason to use Sonik Synth at all. I'll just start using the SS samples in ST. That will open up a lot of new possibilites but then makes sharing Combis with those who only own Sonik Synth impossible.

I don't know.... A lot of people have ST2.5 as well as SS2. It might open a lot of options.
I sure some other esoundz people will show up here to comment. Hopefully you'll get a broader look at opinions.

SampleTank is expandable with samples, Sonik Synth is not. That's just the way it is.
I agree it would be nice if there was MORE sounds for Sonik Synth and you never know, there may be an update next year (and an upgrade) with new sounds to look forward to at least. But expandability... you'd have to take that one up with IK. As of now only SampleTank out of the "powered by SampleTank" products can do that. But you can of course read all of your ST format sounds from SS2, Miroslav etc. inside SampleTank which is nice.

That's the way I run mine here. You can share Combi's with people as long as they own all the sounds used in that Combi.Teksonik wrote:Actually now that I look at the two side by side there doesn't seem to be any reason to use Sonik Synth at all. There have been so many great oppertunities to pick up the Sampletank Engine in the recent Group Buys, that most people should have one. If you do, then just think of the other fine IK products as an expansion to your Sampletank library. Having the Sampletank sounds, along with SS2, Miroslov, SampleTron, SampleMoog, plus all the Expansion Tanks, Sonik Capluses, and Retank Loops, makes one heck of a library running under Sampletank,,,, and lets not forget StudioPhonik, either.
I keep saying this, but the Rare and Vintage Group Buy was also a great addition. It was almost like getting 5 big Expansion Tanks, and very much in the same arena of interest as the Sonik Synth 2 sound sets. Perhaps just a little more "specialized".
Just a random thought Squids, you should really put the stuff from World Traveler together and offer it as an Expansion Tank. I know a lot of that material is in the special Sonik Reality Bonus set, though. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1662

Yes I'll just use SampleTank instead but I've had a couple of hard crashes when loading several samples at the same time with each layer set to the same midi channel (layered). I'll keep and eye on this and see if it continues.
EDIT: Now that I've had a play with the SS and ST XL samples I realize what I meant by extra content. Would be nice to have more evolving digital textures rather than just your basic OB, Moog saw waves etc. I was also looking for that old standard DX7 Tubular bell sound as well, must be in the SS or ST collections somewhere.

That's what I'd do also - but I don't feel like buying SS2 only to use the sounds in SampleTank. Perhaps IK/SR could offer the SS2 sound library as a downloadable product?Teksonik wrote:Actually now that I look at the two side by side there doesn't seem to be any reason to use Sonik Synth at all. I think it would end up being the same price. There is a lot of content in SS2.trixie wrote:That's what I'd do also - but I don't feel like buying SS2 only to use the sounds in SampleTank. And I'm one of those that perfers the SS2 interface to ST's interface. SS2 is easier for me to read.

Does SS2 have larger writing than ST2? Otherwise, I've been able to change ST2's color to something very close to SS2 blue. Try messing with the display and see if that helps you.Reverend Rhythm wrote:I think it would end up being the same price. Absolutely! The thing is, at present I need to order a boxed product (= additional cost of postage) and install a plugin I do not intend to use at all - that's why I'm asking for a downloadable SS2 soundset.Reverend Rhythm wrote:I think it would end up being the same price.
