I am looking for singers specialized in soundtrack like, world/ethnic type of singing. Any of you know directories where I can find singers and/or any suggestions on how to find these?
I will need multiple sessions with them and pay is aprox. $100-150 pr. hour...
Appreciations in advance.

Where are you based? What languages were you after?

Based in San Francisco, but remote sessions is fine. I am not looking for any languages in particular, but looking for that otherworldly sound commonly used in soundtracks. Lisa Gerrard is what comes to mind, but she has been overused, so any type of world-sounding, ethnic, powerful, emotional female vocalist would be great. However all the singers must be experienced with this and professionals. I have received a great amount of amateur reels and ... great as they are ... they are not going to work for these projects.

Have you tried world music labels? Always depends on which budget you have.skamuf wrote:Based in San Francisco, but remote sessions is fine. Some labels: Cumbancha, Real World, Putumayo, Audiogram etc...
They could put you in touch with artists. I know some artists mostly in Montreal...also depends on your budget. Easiest way would be to contact the labels directly...if you are afraid of receiving new artist demos...
Also you could try contact some from MySpace...listenning to what they do, you could filter what you want
PM me if you want more info (only if you have reasonable budget).

Check out Jillian Goldin. She's an award-winning, classically-trained soprano who has done vocals for games like Civilization IV as well as various composers like Guy Bacos and Chris Tin. She also writes original music and has been called "Better than Enya"
While Jill can do a lot of different styles, as well as sing fluently in a number of languages, she REALLY excels at ethereal stuff. Check out her website:

Click "Services" for more info on her pricing, plus demo reels (there's one specifically for ethereal singing.) You WON'T be disappointed should you hire her, I guarantee it.

I know several (pro) singers in French Creole, in French too, and even Danish.skamuf wrote:Thanks guyz. I have contacted all the people above. This is tremendously helpful! Many appreciations!
I don't know if his qualifies as world though.
