not even with the "retrig phase when in mono option" switched on ...and yes i am in mono)
there is no retrig phase option, that's for gate retrig.

set oscillator sync to "gate".

i did that and it loads fine.
just make sure u rename it to default....and not daefault hehe

So is the source for xhip available?

Post

why do you need it? the gui "sdk" is available at http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/xgdb

i'm really not to worried about that - those types of people typically can't write their own code. every good coder i've ever known wanted to maintain 100% their own code. the types who'd take somebody else's code (and regularly do, i'm sure there is some xhip or gpl code in lots of commercial plugins) can't generally maintain the code on their own - in the case of xhip's code they couldn't even get it to work without my help.

(that's the reason it isn't already GPLd - it isn't ready for primetime, or in other words it's not useful for anyone else to use for anything at this point.)

xhip is 100% public knowledge already. there is nothing secret or proprietary in the code, it's all the most simple, preschooler code you could write. it's the way in which it's put together that makes it sound good - it's designed like a sh-101 or similar synthesizer. it's all just a matter of knowing what you're doing when you design and implement a synthesizer. if somebody were to take xhip's code they'd have absolutely no advantage over what is offered at musicdsp for example, it's the same code. they would need me behind the wheel to put things together to make a quality product.

btw using pitchbend to do vocal emulation is really tricky, you need to get all the pitches right to sound like real speech.. even if the whole sound is filtered over it seems as if the pitching of the voice is 90% of the human quality.

i had another few more hours with xhip and is really good fun with this new gui.
the knobs beahviour could be improved though.
ideal imo is both vertical and horizantal dragging.
with horizontal dragging slower than vertical(for finer adjustments)

Post

a custom version could be done. the knobs have shift-for-fine as well though.

i did some work, the thing shouldn't be able to crash anymore (the routing boxes work!) and i made the listboxes look a bit better.. all the borders line up perfectly and so on now.

Great news on the Branis GUI...thanks to everyone involved.

Merry Xmas all.

Soundbanks soon.

I just downloaded the alpha, and branis gui, put the 3 alpha files in an xhip folder, renamed branis gui to default.xhipgui, and replaced the one that came with the alpha.
No .ini file is in the folder, and it looks and works fine in pclinuxos/wineasio

Thankyou AD, and Branis, and Merry Christmas! Put the British Highgain fx from CMFuzz on your Roover patch, admittedly a childish deed, but hey, Christmas isn't just for kids... reminds me of being on the roof by the airbase when the interceptors kick in the afterburners :-o :o  :-o 8) :hihi:

AD is native linux support dropped? what was the latest version that was compiled for linux?

Post

ancient. it still compiles on linux, it's just that the gui code doesn't work correctly and i'm not going to have time to recode it all. due to that in addition with the fact it works PERFECTLY using the wine wrappers there is absolutely no point in doing a linux version at this time.

the core of xhip and the guis are all 100% portable - there is absolutely no system dependent code what-so-ever. all system code is contained in the external library and it is all modular (in the form of abstracted c++ classes.)

i could compile the latest version on linux, you'd just need to convince me as to exactly why that would serve any purpose at all.
