Hi,

I have some questions about all of these things and this seems to be the place for answers. I've looked around to see if I could find them without posting and asking things people have already answered, but there was too much information for me to really know if I'm being redundant. So forgive me if I am.

I am interested in Squids Tron Collection. All I have at the moment is Sampletank 2 SE and I'm not clear if I can run the Squids sounds on that or not. Also, I'm not that interested in buying Sampletank if the sounds won't run on SE, so I was wondering if all of the sounds from Tron Collection V1 will load into Sampletron if I were to purchase that instead of Sampletank 2.5.

I've been using an old EMU sampler with the Mike Pinder Mellotron Sample CD for years and it's served me well, but there are sounds that are not on that CD that I have been searching for for a very long time. The holy grail of Chamberlin sounds for me is the Tibia Organ. Does anybody know if that is included in the Squids Collection?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Hi Jake, AFAIK, Sampletank SE is a locked version, and will only run the sounds that came with it, so I don't think you will be able to load the Squids Tron Collection in it. It would run in Sampletank LE, and sometimes you can find the occasional Expansion Tank or Capsule that's been laying around at a local retailer that hasn't been blown out the door, so that MIGHT be an option.

You won't like hearing this, but Squids ran a Group Buy last month where you could get Sampletank 2.5 L, and select SampleTron free during the IK 2 for one deal for $99. It also included a pile of ReTank Loops for Sampletank. It's always a good idea to watch the KVR Market Place to see the latest deals going on. Unfortunately, that one is over.

There is an Organ sample with quite a few child settings included in the Squids Tron Collection under Chamberlin. I'm not sure if it's specifically the Tibia, though. Maybe someone can confirm that.

There are so many reasons to have Sampletank 2.5's full engine, though. It will serve as command central for all the Sampletank soundsets. If you act quickly, you could pick up SampleTron using the crossgrade price you're entitled to, and get SampleTank 2.5 as a freebie, (or vice versa) but that deal ends on Dec 31, so you'd have to hurry. eSoundz sells it here... http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1935

You could contact Allen and see if he could fix you up at the last minute, or work out some sort of deal. He's pretty nice about taking care of those sort of requests.

Thanks! Jeeze, two days. I might jump on that afterall. I knew about it, but I wanted to find out all of that info before laying down the cash. Thanks for the response. Too bad I missed that deal. I'm really good as missing great deals by a month or two.

I went ahead and ordered Sampletank XL. Hopefully I will be able to take advantage of the 2 for 1 deal at IK even though I won't be able to register Sampletank until after the 31st. It's a nail-biter.

I meant to ask who Allen is. Is that someone at esoundz or at IK?

Allen is Mr Customer Service at eSoundz. If you ordered SampleTank from eSoundsz, he will likely be able to arrange it so that you can get your IK freebie without any problems. You can contact him at Allen (at) eSoundz (dot) com.

If you ordered it directly from IK, then I'm sure they will help make it work for you as well... but you might have to jump through a few more hoops to get it organized.

Some good news is that you probably won't need to purchase Squids Tron Volume 1, since there is a significant overlap with the content of SampleTron. Squids provided the SampleTron instruments, so the overlapping content is identical. Squids Tron Volume 1 does have a few instrument variations and extras, but for the most part you will already have most of it in SampleTron.

Squids has talked about a future Group Buy where he will offer content not included in SampleTron... so you might wait until then if you need more Tron instruments.

SampleTron and Squids' Tron both include Chamberlin organs and a whole bunch of Optigan organs which are absolutely fantastic.
