LinPlug - back to the roots...!!!!

Well,
to be honest, the Syncrosoft dongle is not all that bad. I had trouble with it twice. The first time it was my new motherboard's BIOS. It clashed with my original dongle. Steinberg was reasonably helpful to replace the dongle, though not exactly fast. Would I do real business with this stuff, Steinberg would have lost it. Since I do it for fun (and had a lot to do to set up the new system anyway), they got away with a "@?#%&!". The second time is Virsyn's... demo license, or whatever. I am not sure who's fault that is. Anyway, I heard worse things about other systems.
Of course this is not about technology. I is about principle. Again and again I find that my buying decisions are heavily influenced by some kind of company appeal, or company identity... or just branding, if you will. From LinPlug, I was willing to accept even the dongle. But grudgingly, knowing that my perception of the company would deteriorate over time (approaching my perception of another company in my hometown, and that ain't good).
I am glad that this is over.
However, I still have two problems.
The first is that Peter refers to the inconvenience his customers have suffered. To me, that demonstrates a misconception of the problem. The problem is not technology, as I said above, but it is also not convenience. It is principle (again: as I said above). I am not really sure if Peter gets it.
My second problem is: I decided to buy another LinPlug product to celebrate this turn. But I had trouble to find one that I did not already own :-|

As a customer just wanted to express that I think that this is a great step for you customers and shows that you care about your customers. I sincerely hope that this will get you more loyal customers ....Xenox.AFL wrote:
We go back to our roots, offering very fine instruments at very reasonable prices. Yes, we also got back to offering all(!) products with a simple serial copy protection scheme, no dongle, no c/r, just enter the serial and you are done.
all the best

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks for such a cool move. Since I'm already running SS dongle/protection on my machine I bought into RMV anyway so the whole affair didn't win or lose business with me, but this move really engenders a lot of "good will", and reminds me why I like you guys so much.
I just hope your "good will" is echoed back with increased sales just to disprove the adage, "no good deed goes unpunished", and to show other devs just how far "user friendly" attitudes and policies can go.
BTW I own Albino, Alpha, CronoX, RMIV, and RMV, and Octopus is on my wishlist
Thanks!

I'm a customer of Albino 3 and RM4.
Month ago when I read Linsoft goes Sycrosoft I thought Linplug byebye.
I hate plugins with syncrosoft!
But now I will buy RM5 Update in the next future.

Thanks also from me. RM4 had a difficult interface which just didn't work properly and had limitations with paths of samples. Now that you are back to serial numbers, I'm happy to upgrade to RMV. Much better on both RM4 issues so its a pleasure to use and much easier to look at too.
Look forward to some new synth from you in the future!
Cheers,
