One Small Triumph (some kind of electro-rock)

I believe this is actually the first finished track I have posted to KVR in well over a year. I would really like feedback on the mix more the composition--I have heard it so many times, I have lost my objective ears, and I know there is something I could improve in the mix (isn't there always?).
It's a rock-type groove with acoustic drums, and then a bunch of 8-bit instruments courtesy of Tweakbench.

or stream here (thanks to all those who helped me get this going):

So, enjoy and feel free to drop any good or bad opinions. You won't hurt my feelings. Thanks!
(On a side note, I realize my website is um... non-existent. I just wanted to get enough up for the time being to be able to host my own music.)

Anyone? Comments? I am every bit as open to negative criticism as positive feedback. Any feelings on the mix?

I can't get past the idea that this is a piece of music from a 90's videogame. Technically it's one of those tracks that's spot on, mixed, Eq'd all perfectly.
I think it could use some dirty sounds or maybe some rich (subtle) pads to cut the Amiga style. A bit like lemon on oily fish

What on earth are you playing this on?
This would be pretty good if you changed the plinkety-plink sounds for something with a bit of power and depth to it.
I was listening to some Vince Clarke-era Depeche Mode songs recently and I couldn't help noticing how feeble their synths sounded. This sounds even feebler than that.
Sorry to be negative, but that's the way I see it.
PS. I like the name of the piece because it sounds like my car!

Hey guys-
Thanks for the feedback so far.
tehlord, you're probably right that a pad of some sort could help fill that mid-freq void. Perhaps I will look into that.
daniel_baum, it's not supposed to sound like big, full synth's. It is Tweakbench's Triforce. It is intentionally NES plinky sounding. If I used real synth's, I think it would kill the whole point of the song. I realize that makes it inaccessible for a lot of people, but I'm okay with that. Thanks for the feedback, though.
Thanks for the feedback thus far, peeps. I am still interesting in hearing any criticism on the mix. Happy New Year, everyone!

Well the intro is really sounding like a chip-sound thing.
The song itself is not bad, nothing wrong in it, but I think it could use some soft-rock vocals, don't you think ?
Cheers
