I heard of some people using EZplayer to control their Retank loops. http://www.toontrack.com/ezplayer_pro.asp
I'm personally not liking the sampletank interface nor the fact that I cant audition midi loops very easy. It sounds like EZplayer may help in this regard? In your experience, does EZplayer really make things easy?
Thanks in advance for your help & reply. Look forward to Squids Retank tutorial!

The ReTank MIDI loops are NOT standard MIDI beats. They exist and work only with their associated beat loops and are meant to simply trigger the loop slices in sequence.
In my experience with EZplayer, it is meant to be a MIDI beat library, interpreting between formats, i.e. making sure that General MIDI grooves play correctly on BFD, or Superior Drummer, etc.
If you've heard of people using EZPlayer to 'control' ReTank MIDI files, I'd be very interested to hear exactly how they are doing it.
Cheers

guys,
that's me who use EZ Player (Pro) for Retank midi file browser.
Berfab, at least EZ Player Pro is capable of reading a file and sending a file
"as is," without conversion between GM drum map/EZDrummer/Superior 1 or 2 format. That it can be used as a generic midi file browser/player.
However, with EZ Player Pro, you can only play back MIDI files; before playing back a midi file for a certain Retank loop, you NEED to load the loop into SampleTank.
Note that Sample Tank engine ignores midi files when it browse patches, and EZ Player simply ignores non-midi files. so you don't need to split midi files and ST patch/loop files. you'll probably want to split them if you browes midi files with Windows file explorer.
I don't think you'd need to buy EZ player just only for Retank, but if you have EZ player pro (or free version), it may be worth considering using it as a midi file broweser.

I happened to check up my user area at Toontrack's site.
seems that EZPlayer FREE is now downloadable from UPDATE page if you register dfh superior 1.x at their site.
just for your information...
