Yeah! Sounds good and punchy. (I take it you weren't going for transparent!)andy_cytomic wrote:Great, that's the kinda thing I wantedbduffy wrote:OK, here we go:

I don't have much lying around as I'm still porting from PC to Mac, but this one has pretty obvious dynamic differences, and I turned off all compressors. See if that works for ya, or I'll dig something else out!
Look forward to hearing it, I probably won't be around today, the wife and I are hosting a party, so I have to stop playing computer.
Happy New Years Eve!Here is the result:

I don't like too much hype and audio samples before a plug-in is public available
Make your compressor ready for a public release, so we can test and eventually buy it

Hey man, I've scaled waaaaaay back on the effects, just for the record. I just spend more on fewer compressors now.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:Still another COMPRESSOR in YOUR plug-ins folder somehow will not surprise me one bit bd - nor will it you i reckonbduffy wrote:Yeah! Actually, I finally got my Windows partition up and running, so I can fill that up with all the crazy VST stuff. I'm gonna try to keep it simple on the Mac machine.

Definitely. All the audio demos here are actually to speed things up for me since I need audio examples for the web page, and finding good completely dry recordings of stuff is difficult. So a big thanks to all those that have contributed, I'll put a big list together and double check all the credits with everyone before going live on my web page. Also through doing these examples, espetially the first one with the slow attack and fast release I actually realised I needed to increase the depth of the range knob. People have also suggested what they think works for a demo version. So I really consider this "help" not "hype", but point taken - I am getting on with it!4damind wrote:I don't like too much hype and audio samples before a plug-in is public available

Hello Andy,
I am following this thread for a couple of days now and i'm very curious about your new compressor. It looks very promising.
At the moment I am doing some (re)mixes of my own tracks (house/electro). I'm not really good at mixing but I would like to know how it react on some volume drops and ofcourse the highs and specially the lows. The demo mp3 has a big kick. If you would like and ofcourse have the time, could you process a little piece with your compressor?
Prefered settings:
Threshold of -24 db
Ratio 2
Make-up of 9 db
Attack of 0.1 ms
Release of 0.8 s
Maybe these settings are a little extreme but then I hopefully get a good idea of the compressor.
On the main bus I did a little low cut to make some space and a little stereo enhancer.

Thanks for the test material. So, how did you come across these settings? Why did you pick a ratio of 2? Do you have an existing compressor you are using?
I've used a bit more makeup than you listed, the settings were Threshold -24 dB, Makeup 14 dB, Range -30 dB, Attack 0.1 mS, Release 0.8 S, Peak Clip On: http://www.vellocet.com/Cytomic/Electro ... erComp.mp3
