XT2 Mute & Solo Buttons

Advice please..

Is there a reason why the solo & mute buttons in XT2 don't 'sync' between the Sequencer & Mixer windows?

I have just had a quick look in XT1 and it is the same there - not sure why I didn't notice this before now

it's because they have different functions. the track mute only affects items being played back from the track (input monitoring is not affected), before the signal goes through the mixer strip. the mixer mute applies to the whole signal going through the track, and happens after any insert effects.

i'm sure some people find it annoying, but i like it this way. it perhaps makes more sense with midi tracks, where you can either mute the midi from the track, or separately mute any instruments connected to it.

Atleast I find behaviour this confusing... Why not go all the way and make all buttons work randomly differently each time you open XT2?

Not annoyed just a bit confused as other DAW's do sync. I can see how with MIDI tracks this could be useful sometimes, but with audio tracks it interrupts workflow when I need to switch between sequencer & mixer views. If I have a guitar track muted in the sequencer view, for example, so that I can focus on other tracks, but then switch to mixer view to balance & add inserts etc.., when I want to bring the guitar back in I have to switch back to the sequencer to do it. Not a big deal for a one-off but I do this a lot when mixing - using sequencer to edit parts and add automation but using tne mixer to balance and add FX etc.. and muting/unmuting to hear how tracks sit together.

I can live with it as it is, but an option to sync or not would be useful

While I can see how this might be helpful the implementation is lacking.
Minimally there needs to be an indicator in the Sequencer to indicate that tracks are Muted or Solo'd in the Mixer and vice versa.

The Mixer also needs a master Mute/Solo indicator/toggle just like the Sequencer has.

One mutes the plugin, the other mutes the MIDI stream. If you want to mute the plugin from the sequencer view, use the mute button in the mixer strip. This is synced with the mixer view.

That's true if you have only one synth attached to a MIDI track.
If you have more than one then the mixer strip will only show whatever one was connected last.

Try this - go into the Modular view and connect multiple synths to a MIDI track.
In the Sequencer only the last one connected will show in the mixer strip. If that's not the one solo'd or muted the only way to toggle that solo or mute is to go into the Mixer.

If you are in the Mixer and your song has a lot of tracks and if when soloing multiple tracks you accidentally solo a wrong track or miss un-soloing one the only way to find the culprit is to start checking out each track in the Mixer one by one.

I've got no problems with the Mixer features - being able to control each synth individually is great. But if you want to have solos & mutes exclusive (to either the Sequencer or Mixer) you still need a way to turn them all off no matter where they were set.
