live rules for this kind of music. i love the cross fader. it's easy to make a nice evolving beat using DJ tricks for automating the cross fader and junk.

i'm hearing in my head as i listen to this in parts:
"you and me, we're gonna party tonight, gonna party tonight til the mornin light"

so i'll likely add vocals and some other stuff in too.

i don't really have a formal listenership to this genre of music, a buddy of mine at works likes it though and he's been showing me some great music and it's influenced me :)

crits welcome!

*edit* It's definitely not hard house :) topic changed accordingly.

The sounds are working really well together here Grymm. You say WIP, in terms of sound elements I think some decent vocal lines would be nice. Oh and some fx sweeps.... :hihi: . Not too sure about the "hard house" tag though.

The lead sound that drops in around the 1:30 mark was that from an OP-X (by sonic projects)?.

.....

:tu:

yep that lead was OP-X.

what kind of house is it? :)

dl, will listen later (im not sure ive heard your stuff before...)

OP-X!...OK cheers!!!

I'm not entirely sure which sub genre of house this would fit into....If I had to, I'd say "Ibiza house" which I think covers a lot of good house music styles.... :hihi: . Right now the elements you've chosen work good together in your track. Maybe after a few more mixes you could post an update.

Q: Do you know enough to say whether the sound produced from the Reaktor version of the OP-X is on par with the SE version?....

It's perhaps wishful but I think a Lennar Digital/Sonic Projects collaboration could do well to yield a mighty sounding (non SE) Oberheim clone.... 8)

Hi Lex,

Not sure bout the reaktor one as I've not tried it, but I'd imagine it would sound as the SE version for sure. I am pretty sure the developer made the ensemble first and then the SE version after, this leads me to believe that the developer created all of the algos from scratch in reaktor using the low level stuff and then ported it forward to SE. I'd say ask him via PM his nick here is Peter999 ...

I do remember some other ensemble from the user library in R5 that was enormously large and had OBX or something in it, but I don't think this sonicprojects stuff is anyway connected to that - and that sounded very ok too.

I really like the OPX and the developer is a very generous and kind person. Look forward to more of his offerings...

Ibiza house as in Ibiza, Egypt? I'll have to check this out on ishkurs guide (the only thing I've found to help me understand the differences between so many electronic genres).

Lennard and Peter as a tag team would be INSANELY cool. Wow, can you imagine? :hyper:

I take it you own Sylenth1 already then? Me too. The one thing I can say is that the OPX has a very unique sound unlike other synths I've tried to date. It nails this certain sound I've been looking for much like the Arturia line did for me (but had to sell that). This sound would be hard for /me/ to coax out of Sylenth1 (but I bet you Lennard, Arksun, or Adam Szabo could do it).

I'd say if you are thinking of grabbing it, there is a player model which is more for presets (you'll be happy to know this sound in my track is a tweaked preset from the collection OB Sync Solo) that is very affordable and has an upgrade path to the more feature packed OPX and the completely cool OPX-Pro which lets you get really deep under the hood and tweak everything about the synth including filter tuning, envelope tweaks, a multimode filter, and so on..

I'm very glad I took the chance and very grateful I found it on the KVR Marketplace for such a reasonable price!

btw; Ishkurs Guide is here: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

Except I don't see anything for Ibiza House - I did find an Ibiza under Trance.

Hey grymm,
I spend so much time staring into your artwork (GUI's), I almost forget about your audio work. Glad to see some tunes in the cafe from you.
This sounds like some exciting floor bouncing stuff. Some very catchy synth lines in there.
The only crit I could come up with is that this particular recording sounds over pumped, but that could also be chalked up to my fatigued ears this late at night. Also, some more flashy transitional elements/dropouts/bridges/fills here and there about every 16 bars would also lend some dynamic to this.
As a WIP, I hear great potential in what I am hearing already. Look forward to further incarnations which, I hope, will include a dramatic build to where this currently is.

This track loosely straddles house, disco, and trance....so lets call it trousco or houscance or dishounce. :)

Ishkirs site is kinda showing a little age, imo, but I still use it as a reference often.

Post

Nice try, though its kinda overwhelming a little

Post

duly noted guys. thanks.

trousco. lol :)

yes ishkurs is in need of an update, but i bet it's too fragmented now for even the bravest soul to undertake THAT project.

definitely agree it needs some dramatic stuff some builds and some better delivery/timing. i will revisit it soon and repost my results.

thanks everyone :)

Ah - I thought it was some kind of "house" speak :)

Hi Grymm'

Have you started to compile a list of your fav' presets from the plethora of OP-X pro factory presets yet ???

:phones:

Post

yep saved them as live instrument racks with live arp and chord midi and uhbik supporting effects ;)

if you have live, uhbik, and opx i'd gladly share. if you are after a list i can do that for you too.
