Hi,

How do I make my digital recordings colder? They are just too warm for my tastes. I've tried big icy reverbs like glaceverb, but it's just not cold enough. I want it to feel like sleeping in an ice cave when listening to my music. My drums need to sound like icicles gouging your ears out. Compression just makes them sound fat and warm. Can anyone help me out?

Thank you in advance.

Drink a hot, fresh cup of joe and they'll seem colder by comparison.

from my experience (and im no expert) low frequencies = warm / high frequencies = cold.

Reverse the polarity on any warming plug-in.

You're welcome. :)

I've tried myself but no advance so far

DANGER, Will Robinson! DO NOT DO THIS! You could rip a hole in the samplerate-bitdepth continuum that will expand forever, consuming all digital music in the Universe.

I thought that happened only when you crossed the bit-streams?
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

Another flat earth namby pamby. I suppose you're one of those worry warts who thinks particle accelerators create black holes. I say, reverse polarity and set yourself free from this Luddite chain.

I do like continuums, though.

oops wrong one

Try cutting some low frequencies, that should give things a thinner sound. You could also try introducing as much space into the music as possible then drench everything in reverb.

For bass instruments try a narrow bandpass filter to keep lows and highs out.

If you've seen one continuum, you've seen them all.

Wrong thread.. sorry!! Why can't we delete our own posts?

Smash it over 0dbfs and do not limit, add the most nasty metalic reverb you have and brootally boost all around 1k-7k; Until its skin turns blue ;)

THE PROBLEM IS YOUR PUNY MEAT BODIES CAN NOT MAKE THE PURE COLDNESS THAT IS POSSIBLE BY ADVANCED ROBOTIC LIFE FORMS.
