Isn't that what people who go on and on about "warm" and "vintage" do?NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:Smash it over 0dbfs and do not limit, add the most nasty metalic reverb you have and brootally boost all around 1k-7k; Until its skin turns blue
Say- since "cold" and "warm" are at least partly subjective, would you consider this sound:

"cold""? Just curious (comparing synaesthesia experiences).

most content above 12.5k is usually considered 'cold'.
also, try to contain your punchy lows at around 95hz
put a 65hz hi-pass on
flangers can sound cold, as well as, sibilant verbs.
sync your delays & mod fx in strict tempo.

Nope, far too warm for my tastes. Probably needs metallic reverb.Aroused by JarJar wrote: Say- since "cold" and "warm" are at least partly subjective, would you consider this sound:

i would think that a lot of that vintage digital coldth has to do with aliasing which is essentialy non-harmonic frequency content (but still sinusoidal, as opposed to noise). so to add some coldth, i'd experiment with processes that create such inharmonic frequency content (frequency shifters, maybe? or ringmod?) or if you make electronic music, use synthesis techniques that can create somesuch in the first place (FM, for example)

Do the opposite of what they suggest in this thread. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

...but it still needs something, maybe a more piercing attack?

Ironically, I quite drinking coffee a few months ago after being a hardcore caffeine addict for most of my life. It was making my nerves ragged. Now I'm a tea man. (still caffeinated, but far less so) If I could change my alias, I would.Meffy wrote:Drink a hot, fresh cup of joe and they'll seem colder by comparison.

Close, but I recommend backing off on the octane and maybe layering some oh-so-subtle dental air drill samples for extra thinnitude. Avoid increasing stereo height beyond a sensible tropospheric boundary; buy new pad presets when you use the last sheet from the old ones; and never fail to put a NPF on the bass.afreshcupofjoe wrote:...but it still needs something, maybe a more piercing attack?
But really all that's just icing (ha ha) on the cake. Everyone knows you can't get any colder than digital audio. So decorating nothingness is your true task. That is your purpose, Arthur.
