hmm.i dont recall saying i like the bigtone presets? i don't make ambient music. what i said was out of all the included patchbanks, the bigtones were the only good ones. i judge a preset/patchbank by how well it works in music, how much i can tweak it and it will sound good tweaked, and by how good it sounds. you don't like what i say tough shit, i speak the truth, i know good sound design, and bigtones was the only good bank. for ambient music its amazing. however, most dance synthesizers come with the expectations that they will be do good dance music. im not being a hater, the included banks sound like something i would download from patch arena. and, not one bank in there was something i could see being in a well produced trance/dance song. my sugestion, take it or leave it, is to spend some that money your getting in sales, and invest it into a few vengeance banks among other popular sound designers.JonasNorberg wrote:
Honestly BigTone is the most experienced sound designer of the bunch, but I think Adam, Reason and MaliceX have done some really cool presets too. Maybe BigTones style is more suiting to you?

the only thing i do with presets are use them to save time when designing my own sounds. look, i know it seems that im trying to be as jonas called me "a hater" but i have nothing against jonas i don't even know him. i also know that because im such a blunt person, i give the impression of somebody trying to start trouble, truth is, all im trying to say is that because helix is such a powerful synth, the lack of good presets is a total letdown. thus my suggestion for some more professional sound banks. thats all.Kriminal wrote:design away then, you shouldnt have any need for presets....chicken muffin wrote: i know good sound design

I haven't tried many of the newer patches in the demo yet but there is an absolutely breathtaking simple clear lead sound in the default bank of the original (beta) version. It's just so beautiful to play and drift away to.

So, we get rid of the existing presets, add a couple Vengeance Banks, lower the price to $50. and everyone at KVR will buy right now! And he'll make tons of money...

True of the ones purpose built for them - my Ti on the other hand has lots of great patches - just not (on the whole) the ones by Vengeance (OK one or two are OK but mostly they are very generic and similar)Kriminal wrote:true, but so are most of the synths they 'design' foraMUSEd wrote:Vengeance stuff is boring

Personally, I think Nick's presets are pretty inventive and original. You should hear some other stuff he's done, it would genuinely motivate you to do something musical.JonasNorberg wrote:Sorry man, you rock!pandashake wrote:Fixed that for you, hater.JonasNorberg wrote:Honestly BigTone is the most experienced sound designer of the bunch, but I think everyone except for that pandashake dude have done some really cool presets too. Man, what would really make people's day is, if Helix had an Adam Van Baker or Arksun bank. (That is if they even own Helix, doubt they do.) Maybe that'll shut chicken muffin up about quality trance presets.
(At least from what I heard from their preset demos)
chicken muffin: What's wrong with saving up for reFX since you like trance so much? Every sound of it you'd hear in club radio airplay... *cough* Or even z3ta+ since it's considerably cheaper, and more presets available?
Anyway, I probably could say the same about Zebra being expensive, and the included presets being not the best (but there's already plenty to go around since so many people own it now, probably due to the dinosaur crossgrade which I can't benefit from since I don't own such contraption.
) But in all honesty, no one can dictate price changes. If Helix is doing fine according to the Jonas, then let it be. Just cause you don't like it, won't mean other people would have your views. Anyway, wasn't Zebra sort of in the same boat regarding "crappy factory presets" a year or two back?

Uh..thanks. That really means a lot.
Should be in "Audjoo - JN Signature" since most of it was ported from the beta version.aMUSEd wrote:I haven't tried many of the newer patches in the demo yet but there is an absolutely breathtaking simple clear lead sound in the default bank of the original (beta) version.
