ftp://ftp.demon.nl/pub/ibmpc/win95/apps ... mlab47.zip
it's a nice little mod editor/sequencer.i've pressed install drivers, but i'm getting no sound,
i followed the readme;
To write your first song, select "Instruments" from the "Module" menu and
click on "Open" to select an instrument wave file for the first slot. Next,
select "2" in the color list and click on "Open" again to select an instrument
wave file for the second slot, and so on. After you've finished, click on
"Close". Now, just right click in the grid to enter a note. Then, select the
appropriate instrument for that note by choosing one in the lower left drop
down list. You can now click on the green Play button to listen to your first
song.
:help: :hihi:

It works under Windows ME (the OS I am running) but I don't think you'll get it to work under XP cos it needs this 16bit driver for audio output and XP don't support them I think even in compat mode.

Well google to see if there is a way to get win 3.1 era 16bit .drv files to run under XP. There might be an unnoficial hack or patch for it, who knows...

Is there a win 3.1 compat mode in XP ? If so that maybe the one you want to try.

Post

thanks,i'll look into it.
XP's got a win95 compat mode,i'll give that a shot.
cheers for the advice.

someone suggested ms virtual pc..

anyone tried that?

Post

Oh yeah in a virtual machine it should work if you install win95/98 or ME in it. Not sure the audio will be optimal though, maybe choppy or such. Saying that I have no experience with MS virtual pc.

You've got the option of using the free QEMU virtual machine which is very capable as well. I installed all Microsoft OSes apart from Vista in it at some point so I can say that it works well, is relatively fast but I would never use for audio cos the playback is choppy under ME. Didn't have a too fast CPU when I did that though and it's very possible it performs better under XP in that respect cos under XP I think it allows to use the real machine hardware or some of it instead of emulating it.

Anyway you'll need to count at least a wait of 30sec to a minute or more depending on the emulated OS and your CPU speed before you can use the app.

Could anyone please upload these things, 'cuz they seem to be gone for good:
Acquit Music EFF XX TWO
Acquit Music FX2100
Acquit Music Houseworker
Acquit Music XXBDrum-v2
Acquit Music XXHihats n Cymb v2
Acquit Music XXPercussion v2
Acquit Music XXSnares v2
I never even heard of these except for "5500+ list"
I'll see what I can do tommorow if no one beats me to it.
Here you go Nahkranoth. EFF XX TWO is very crashy and probably unusable because of it. The others seem to be fine.

You probably forgot to install the OSes from an ISO image of the install CDs me thinks. What you have now must be unformated disk images with no boot sectors and of course no operating systems on them.

PS : I think you don't need to make an ISO image of the install CD when you run QEMU under XP but can use your real CD-ROM drive I think. Look into the virtual machine properties where you set-up disks and such.

ah,i see.shit.it's seems a bit convoluted for the sake of one old module editor, thanks for helping, but i'll have to skip this for now.:)
