I've run into an interesting bug with RMX, and I'm posting about it here since it's the weekend and the Spectra tech support staff won't be up until Monday. Plus, being deluged with Omnisphere tech requests I'm sure RMX stuff would be a low priority.

Basically, over the last 6 months or so my Stylus RMX (fully updated) in Windows XP SP3 has stopped reliably saving and recalling its state. For example, while it works perfectly well under FL Studio in the middle of a project, I'll save and close the project then reopen it only to find that Stylus RMX has completely emptied itself of all FX and parts - as if it were JUST opened.

If I try to beat the system and, before closing my project, save the Stylus RMX settings as an FL preset... the FL preset doesn't save. Or rather it saves, but it's a 4kb file (compared to the 28kb that it should be) and of course when THAT file is loaded, it's blank. I've tried saving as a Cubase FXP as well: no good. Even saving the RMX multi within RMX does not work. It just saves as a blank file.

I am absolutely baffled by why this would be happening. I've owned RMX basically since release but this has only been happening for the last half a year or so. It's random - doesn't happen with all projects, or on every single load/save, but once I see an instance is "bugged" it just won't save no matter what. This makes life very, very frustrating since I actually have to take snapshots and paste them into MS Paint to recall my work.

I don't think it's an issue with FL Studio, as I've been working with the tech support there and we've tried nearly everything, including downgrading my plugin wrapper to an older version. So, I'm assuming it's an RMX issue, but it can't be JUST RMX as it has worked fine for me before (including on this same computer.) What could possibly be causing this? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I think it's a screen state thing with RMX , you gotta remember which window was open when you save, and have same window open when recalling presets.

Had a mate with this problem , i dunno if its video related or what but this fixed his problem.

Make sure RMX isn't open with the GUI visible when saving in your host "FL".

oh and "Wrapper" ? elablorate further if you would.

I've had exactly the same problem here with RMX not saving settings with Cubase 2.2.

After a bit of trial and error, I find that it will save the settings as long as the RMX GUI is not open when I save the song (which is in line with the previous poster's assertion about GUI state).

It's not ideal but I've got pavlovian about closing the RMX GUI before song saves now.

I'll give that a shot. But it still doesn't explain why I can't even save the plugin state as a preset, or even a multi WITHIN RMX...

Anyone have any advice here? Closing the GUI didn't help. I'm really stuck, and I hate losing all my chaos data.

EDIT: Problem solved? I read on some random forum that Java might interfere with RMX. So, I closed Firefox and Pidgin (AIM client) and amazingly, RMX saved perfectly.

1) Delete preferences file and reinstall RMX:
Windows: delete the c:\program files\spectrasonics\audio2.dat file.

i have the same problem in PT8 on leopard....
saving without the GUi present or closing down all the other apps running...

I think reinstalling is not really a good option, more like the last option...

No offense, i don't mind doing some workarounds in order to get this saving working...
but if every problem would be solved by reinstalling?????
I might as well go back to windows then.

Something else pretty interesting....

it seems that the first save of the multi goes swell. When i want to save after that, the stylus will only revert to the first one, that was saved...

very strange...

I guess there're three options left:
1) PT8 is fairly new, so either Spectrasonics are working on bugfixing already, or...
2) They stop working on bugfixes and release Stylus RMX2 at NAMM or Musikmesse 2009, or...
3) they think that the majority doesn't have any problems and won't go that much in-depth.

Three possibilities - you can't be too sure what's going on. Guess you just have to sit that one out.

I have had the same problem. Also using FL studio. I lost a project with this bug and since then I have been making screenshots of all the different RMX windows.
Did you change any FL Studio compatibility options that you have on every VST like fixed buffer size ?
