Yeah. There may not even be a Cubase 5. It might only be crappy VSTi's.hibidy wrote:you changed the words before I could comment......

If I remember correctly, Steinberg has always had a teaser up on the front page at Streinberg.net well in release of a new version of Cubase, and there is nothing up there at all. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone remember if there was a teaser out for Cubase 4?

Apparently the "5" is real and on the real magazine ad according to someone who has the mag. So I guess there is a new *something* 5. It has to be Cubase.
I think the secrecy in this case is due to the Steinberg 25 year anniversary. They did change the website colors to gray from blue which may indicate the color of the new Cubase?

Hour...Hunchback...GET IT?!?
So is that legit? Personally, I don't give a f**k what's shiny (or not-so) new with Cubase 5. This time, instead of waiting 2 years, I'm upgrading right away. I always kick myself once I do - especially when I discovered Cubase 4 was lighter on my old machine than SX 3! I'll take the bugs - er...features and just ketp 4 installed until things are kosher.

what he's saying is "We can announce several things : a new Wavelab, Sequel, Cubase, Nuendo, VST Instruments, new hardware etc". So new versions of all those .... which is coolLawrenceF wrote:Start counting your spare change...What will be announced is a secret. We can announce several things: a new Wavelab, Sequel, Cubase, Nuendo, VST Instruments, new hardware etc. The only thing that I can say now already, Steinberg has it's 25 birthday now !
Please have a little patient for the moment, and wait till we (make) our announcements at the NAMM show.

But take note he said "can"... so... maybe not.
I'm just really interested what the "secret" is!
english as a second language to introduce rumors is so..... not right

Cubase 4.5.2 (PPC Mac OSX) is the best damn sequencer I have ever used, and I have tried them all starting with Cakewalk on DOS about 20 years ago.
They'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands...

You understand that they need continual sales to keep the lights on and feed their kids and all that, right?7thangel wrote:i wish all of them could slow it down and not come up with new versions in the 2-4 year span cause sometimes
How about the Autodesk model: A new release every year, and you pay for a "subscription." Fix some bugs, add some new features, break something else, ship new release. Repeat!
Oh, and they number them by whatever the NEXT year is. 3ds Max 2009 shipped in May 2008, etc.
Apparently, there are some legal, mostly non-controverisal subjects you can't talk about on KVR, or even mention in your sig. Unfortunately, the guidelines don't actually talk about them, so the only way to find out is trial and error.
