Noooooo, I loved the turn to darker colours that came with Cubase 4! I hated all those lively colours that SX3 had and I was jealous of all those Nuendo guys with their dark blues and greys. So when I first saw Cubase 4 having the dark Nuendo colours I immediately fell in love with it.

well, I just can't help getting the feeling that instead of better daw features and such, it's just toys (I'm talking about sonar, logic and so on as well)

Seems that in the end, after the "oooooos and ahhhhhhs" what people would really want are greater editing, composition, rendering capabilities.

I don't see a fuss either, just thought it's a nice addition. Not something I'd change hosts for, if another has this already available. Milages vary of course ... Seems to be the Yamaha Pitch-fix technology according to the other leak that's travelling around the net.

Well, I'm not changing hosts. Cubase is my universe. I'm going to keep upgrading, regardless, because I want the most up to date version of the program.

So as long as I'm doing that, let them cram in as much as possible.

I have to say it's really easy in the eyes to me. I never really think about it. Hmmmmm, that reminds me, I wish the color controlling was a bit more complex....like "change all groups" or "change all audio". Seems no matter what setup I use in the preferences, I struggle to keep my colors proper.

Hmmm...you really must hate dark tones, which is probably why your own website is all dark, huh?

Actually I did tone down my Cubase SX3 to a more darker tone, but not THAT dark and flat. If I want Ableton Live, I go for Ableton Live. But I don't like Live, so there you go.

Any proof or written info abour that? If you get C5 for free if you get C4 now... I'd go for it to save some money. SAme with Wavelab. Depending on the new upgrade price, too. Chances are that Steinberg say "even more tools, even more money for upgrading". They did that from SX3 to C4 at least. From 120 to 160Euro or something.

Thinking about it I bought a cubase 5 to sx 2 update. Steinberg were saying it was then or never for that upgrade, as they were going to discontinue it. I jumped right at the end of that period and very shortly afterwards 3 was released - I got a free update to that

I mainly use Cubase but in my use of Pro Tools LE to "keep my chops up" I just threw $50 MellowMuse's way and was done with the PDC issue. Don't use it every day compared to Cubase which I do but it seems solid.

Neither do I, I'm so SOLD. Even though I blow one of my 5 available insert per channelstrip in LE. But HECK if I can do Latency Compensation and save on CPU due to that... why not.

RTAS and TDM in a pro Environment? I wish we had this at the academy!

Ok, first off: At least Steinberg *does* update their sequencers. Apple for instance doesn't. A clear winner.

And then, I think they're really trying to compete with Logic (which has always been their main opponent, kinda traditionally). Regarding that, they seem to be doing well. I can't see anything bad in what is packed into Cubase 5, especially assuming that there'll be quite some more features which just don't make it into whatever spectacular news.

I'll defenitely bite this time and order the update from SX3 more or less soon.
