His user base bitched about the sequencer in 1.4 until he built them a new one and called it XT2. A damn nice one too. When they got the new sequencer FREE, instead of being happy most were distressed and worried about missing features.
Jens and friends worked very hard to drive a wedge between Jorgen and the users. Their efforts are still apparent in this forum.
Completely forgetting all that had come before, rather than continue to work with the best developer ever to improve "their" new sequencer. His users acted stupid and childish, trashing his efforts, calling him names, basically wanting to dictate how things "should" proceed until he stopped talking to them.
Then they wonder why ... It's amazing!

because as far as I can remember, the only person abandoning Jorgen's XT2 plan, was Jorgen.
I personally waited for the "unpatriotic traitors" part and for the flag waving.

Yeah this is pretty much the sad but true case. No one guilty will admit it though.tomg wrote:This man was here every day. Sometimes FRs were done in hours. I got introduced to KVR because of EnergyXT and when i originally came here (about 2005 as Former Pharaoh), it was a much different attitude with the userbase.
I for one was disgusted at the attitude that developed here towards Jorgen as XT2 went along (for better/worse is personal opinion, regardless) and it made me lose a lot of respect for this community.
It's literally like a class of impatient spoiled kids. Seriously.
But when i used to work at a recording studio, i dealt with the same attitude (actually worse) with a lot of musicians so what did I really expect? That anything would be different because it's on an online forum????
ANyhow-my addenda to this post is to basically vent a little myself. I love XT and it crushes me that certain users have to ruin what made KVR fun (at least for me).
By that I mean the opportunity to talk about perfecting a program with other like minded users and the developer himself.
It wont happen anymore. Not after how many have shown their ugly colors towards Jorgen.
And for those who say I'm no better, let me remind you that my anger and hostility was towards the usergroup i've lost respect for. I never bad mouthed Jorgen or complained about his lack of anything. Have I never been upset about XT? Of course not. I've lost work in the early carnations of 1.4 and voiced my frustration but I felt it was civil and never meant to undermine Jorgen or anyone for that matter.
All in all, maybe we can develop some patience, for those who decide to stick with XT. IN a way I'm glad this release is the way it is. It will eliminate the cancer of this forum. Like DJ Subject...

Your approach seems to rule out at possible anger or voiced disappointment towards the developer when he fails to deliver. Is it really that black and white? Ugly colours shown or polite silence? Was Jorgen really some idiot savant incapable of sorting out this forum and clearly and concisely explaining what was going on?S.HUSH wrote:Yeah this is pretty much the sad but true case. Jorgen have disappeared from the forum and isn't able to develop XT2 'cause of his userbase...Most funny idea, i've seen since years.
Were you there S.HUSH (or former pharaoh) when jorgen stopped posting here and went away from the roadmap without a single explanation. It's really a strange attitude to modify reality.

Well, whatever happened, you guys are now stuck with a piece of software that is still not what you all hoped it would be. I'm not an XT user but I read this forum out of interest. I would have bought it if it would be a serious sequencer on Linux. I was a long time Tracktion user first on PC and later on the Mac, and I had to abondon it with the release of T3. So I know the feeling.
I feel your pain, but it's the music that counts, not the equipment. Time to move on to another host I'd say.

hmm it says on the website you can draw automation - is this a new addition? I've never been able to do that.

I don't remember much bitching about the 1.4 sequencer, most people absolutely love(d) it. There were always features that people wanted but that's always going to be the way. Most posters here were very supportive at the time IIRC. Ostensibly XT2 came about for other reasons to do with the XT1 code becoming hard to maintain and extend, that's well accepted and understood I think.tomg wrote:His user base bitched about the sequencer in 1.4 until he built them a new one and called it XT2.
Anyway, at least XT3 won't be a complete rewrite.

As a matter of fact, i remember clearly a thread with whining in it (very early incarnation of XT2) and this was one of the early signs of the userbase showing their ugly colors. Jorgen even posted a comment in this particular thread saying something to the extent of "Is it raining outside or something" to basically state many users are whining all of a sudden.ethnix73 wrote:

This was the beginning of the "end" IMO as far as this forum is concerned.
It was really unusual too because with 1.4, it was far from perfect but the userbase was a lot more tolerant of the bugs/limited features. As to why/how/who/what caused the whining, who knows, but it went on before Jorgen became less communicative here. His non responsivenss was AFTER the whining started. That and he was obviously busy working on expanding XT2 (Behringer, Indamixx, CM vervsion etc.)
BTW, i am assuming one of Jorgen's reason's for being less responsive was due to the whining. He's human and I for one can understand it. But I can safely bet that it has a LOT more to do with expanding XT to a wider audience.
Ok, let's go with this argument and say Jorgen "fails to deliver" ( I see it more like he is doing the best he can to take XT to a wider market and yes...it takes time. Until Jan 15, 2009 to be exact.re_mute wrote: Your approach seems to rule out at possible anger or voiced disappointment towards the developer when he fails to deliver.
Until XT becomes your go to host (if ever), try/buy another.
MULAB
REAPER
a bit expensive but Samplitude is good
PODIUM
etc.......
I love XT and really really really want it to be my be all end all host. Until then, I have to shell out more dough to upgrade Live. Am i happy with that? Well, could be worse...I could be a Reaper user.

XT 1.4s sequencer is still the quickest around for me
I love it
Always have
Always will
Hopefully one day i can find something else that runs multicore and supports feedback controllers that works the same way

That must refer to the alt-Left Mouse Click feature which draws in the automation bars in an automation lane. It's been there awhile.aMUSEd wrote:hmm it says on the website you can draw automation - is this a new addition? I've never been able to do that.

I can sweep over bars for velocity and change them (though that's not really automation) but I was thinking of drawing envelopes (like with a pencil tool).SWTrex wrote:That must refer to the alt-Left Mouse Click feature which draws in the automation bars in an automation lane. No neither did I - one reason why I don't like anything you can only find using a shortcut (if it's a feature it should be transparent, not hidden away like that)S.HUSH wrote:Didn't know that.
