So, now that all the workflow enhancements have been announced, it's obviously going to have a thing or two that are desirable.

Since the grace period is dissapointing for me, I wait for at least one update and maybe get this thing in march/april.

Compyfox, you act like a whining idiot.
What exactly are you complaining about? That you, an SX3 user, can get your C5 update for the same price as a C4 owner? Complaining about that is just as retarded as it gets.
Because of idiots like you I wish they would raise the update price for SX3 users. But fortunately they won't listen to that, so I can benefit from the quite low update price as well.

Oh, thanks that you chime in again and call me an idiot yet again.
I just didn't see a reason "why" a grace period for upgraders, and I wrote that down. For funks sake this is a discussion forum. You don't have to like it, but I'm sick of you calling me a whiny bastard/idiot!
Touch your own nose!

I'll get the upgrade, it looks awesome as long as there are no major bugs.
Anyone know what the upgrade price from Cubase 4 is?

Around 160Euro again. Unless you got a full version/upgrade to C4 from Dezember 2008 up until now, then you have a grace period with an additional 29Euro fee.
It's all written down at the official boards, there's a FAQ thread there.

Cheers dude, my Mrs sister also got an educational version for her media studies course.... I hope she can upgrade that as well. Not that she'll need the extra functions to be honest.

I upgraded SL 3 EDU to Cubase 4 Studio, no problem whatsoever, there are no EDU to EDU program upgrade options but hey ...Sonic Boom Samples wrote:Cheers dude, my Mrs sister also got an educational version for her media studies course.... I really don't get the fuss about the upgrade path. I didn't upgrade to Cubase 4, because it didn't have any enhancements that I really needed. Looking at the enhancements for Cubase 5 gets me pretty excited to be honest. Especially the new automation, the full 64bit support (screw preview versions), and the VST expression functions (I do a lot of virtual orchestral projects).
So I'm really really happy that I can upgrade from SX3 for the same price that C4 users pay
200 euros is a really friendly pricepoint for what I'm getting.

I can't seem to find it now, going back over this thread, but IIRC, some Dutch bloke posted an EDU C5 price of 70 Euros.
Did I imagine this? Can someone point me to the link?
Also, going back over the thread, I hate to pile on, but Compyfox, if you re-read all your posts in this thread, I think you'd have to agree that you've been a world-class whiner here. Maybe not top 10 material, but you'd certainly make the qualifier round.
Cheers

I decided to go for C5 directly...
The Grace Period just looked to good - how mistaken I was. On the positive side though, the sit-out was worth it. Looks like the uneven host numbers are still the best for Steinberg. History repeats itself.
Still a bit pissed though that sidechaining is overlooked. Then again, I should be more than happy that I can use "hardware" (unlike in SX1).
Oh and I'd make the qualifying round for Top 20 mayhaps... still I'm in the last rows. Especially if I look at the drama regarding a certain synth in the market place, and a certain host by a developer who went to a big german hardware creator. *cough*
Internet - definitely serious business.
