Thanks, PF!
I am still occasionally tweaking that mix, but it's ready when you are.

I'm listening to the whole set today and I'm kind of amazed by how different all of these tracks sound. There are a lot of very different styles and moods here, but somehow they all hang together. Very nice.

First, wow, thanks for listening through this, j. and second -yeah, I'm all over the place, but I'm glad there is some consistency enough to blend them. I'm a moody writer.

Heyo!
Prepare yourself for a monster comment. I'm not always around- I haven't been around for too much longer than a year if even and I don't often poke my head here (though maybe I will more often!) but I do like monster comments.
-Listening to The Emptiest Spaces now, just waking up. I absolutely cannot focus but the sounds are hitting my ears. Very creative =). Do you play guitar? Or do you have someone else play it in? Or maybe there's no guitar in this song, I'm drinking my coffee in hopes of my eyes and ears and mind opening up a bit..
And yes, I'm going to comment this song for song because I feel it deserves it.
And now 4bidden!
-I'm interested in the techniques you use to make these sounds. It sounds very complicated. I like the kick. Nice delay. Filter work, I hear it. Is that a granulizer you use to get that repeating / stuttering sound, or do you plan on blowing my mind with some sampler synther thinger I've yet to hear of? Yes, I'd certainly be interested in hearing about the plugins you use =P. What host is this made in? Yes, this is music I want to wake up to. This track is very chillaxed on the outside, it has some tension though. Kind of like being mind blow, empty eye sockets staring at a monitor or a TV, static, in a dark room. Standing up jerkingly to go over to the sink to wash the dishes. Or walking through a city at night on acid.
-Naked Truth! I'm skipping the track that you only did vocals on. I'm listening for common themes throughout and similarity of sounds to determine possible reccurent use of similar synths / plugins. I don't expect to find much. Who did the vocals? Or is this a sample from a movie ish? Cool bass drop =P. You are talented! I'm considering my own works next to all of this so far and realizing I could really put a looot of depth into my work. Inspirational =). This is well organized too, that's usually something I'm not too great with myself. Taking another look at the title- I bet this Vim Cortez character did the vocals >_>. This would sound kind of cool with a tape-stop ending, that's what I was expecting. Seems like it was an imitation of it anyway with the pitch slide down. Next!
-Ash and Dust, I heard good things about this, let's see! I like the sounds so far, only a few seconds in. This sort of artistic awakening / wake-up call (quite literally, as I'm still drinking my coffee) is really what I've needed. Great glitch beat thinger. Do you use DB glitch by chance? I have the idea that it's relatively popular and generally looked down upon, though personally I think it adds taste with light amounts and has a lot of capabilities. Yes, I like this. The arrythmia and spurts of rythym with the deep voice remind me of good things. Vocoder, about half way through? Very light use, nice flare. I like the granulized / buzzing hit-hat sound. And the, well I don't know how to explain it. The strings are cool too! Nice touch. Next!
-Ishallow8. I dig the ambient bass sound. Nice swing. I like all the buzzy kind of things you do, buzz appeal. Good buzz control haha, we'll settle on that. The silence at the end of a measure is nice. This reminds me of waking up with absolutely no energy and not wanting to do anything but having a list of stuff to get done. Getting in the car, driving out on a drab day to like home depot or something, walking around and not even being asked if I need help. haha. Going home, slumping back down on the couch. Nice beat change, to a kind of slower thing. Tempo's the same, I suppose I should say more minimal. The voice stutter thing reminds me of something Tipper does. Man, how do you make that sort of sound? Every like, 32 bars? I'm not counting- where there's a bit of silence and it drops into something slightly different, it's like a new explosion of a phrase. Everything is well organized. I like the trumpet fart ending. Next!
dawgwatah. Great opening, already love it. Buzz sauce. Technical difficulties, coming online! Great intro. Houseish, I like this. I've been mixing a lot actually, I like dropping random artists when I mix so maybe I'll burn this and mix it in sometime =). Some vocals might be cool over this. It's a bit more repetitive than the other stuff so far- I can see the confines of trying to fit a genre squeezing in =P. I try and do the same thing sometimes. Nice formant thing, that's sweet. Daft punkish. Some sort of lead might be good with this. Nice break. And we dive underwater with the filter. Good ending to mix with. Ahh sweet ending, yes. Next! It's been a while now and I'm realizing I should probably -start my day- soon. I'm gonna skip down a bit.
-Transperspective. Like the opening voice thinger. Nice bass kick. I like this a lot. Skipping again- Perception has caught my interest.
Perception- Oh I recognize the opening! "my heart beats out...of sync again..." haha. Yes! I was right. I looooove these lyrics so much. Out of time, alright, I was close. Great vocals.
Hypnomota- Yes, I love samples like that. ahh this is great. Where is that from? I've heard the voice before. Yes this is excellent. I wonder how long you sat there deciding exactly where to place the countings haha, even though it seems straight forward I would nitpick with that. Interesting that it's 5 and 8 too, on the counts- 5 and 8 and 13 (in chromatics) make a major triad. Ahh and the music is slowly fading in and the voice out, this is wonderful. The wind chimes are cool- it makes me think of slowly fading into a grey death spirit world in your imagination, inside your mind. Time stops and you walk around looking at all the details in a ghost town, walking the streets and no one is moving. Shadows are sucking the light away instead of being crisp lines. Next is going to be from the point of collapse. The title sounds slightly familiar, I think I've heard it before but we'll see! Great metallic delay sound. wun! shwhat! Nightmare world is gone, where am I?! Spookeh sauce. Next!
From the point of collapse- This will be the last. syncopated delays, nice nice nice. This whole song says "I will rise up!" to me. I can kind of see the journey.
Very nice! All very nice. Thank you for sharing =). Keep at it! Very wonderful sounds.

my jaw is on the floor and I can't find an emoticon to relay that.
This might be one of the most detailed responses to any post I have ever made. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can.
Cubase. As for 4bidden, the vstis used are Reaktor, Battery, Synplant, Stylus RMX, and Microtonic and slew of effects from De La Mancha, Jack Dark, and even Powercore. This is a pretty typical setup.
The Naked Truth is actually Vim Cortez on vocals/drums/bass/keys and me on the arrangement and mix/keys/and overall sound design. The tapestop ending was created using a simple vst called 'tapestop'.
Dogwater was actually specifically made for a DJ. Not my normal motif at all, but it's also good to keep yourself open to new ideas and genres (no matter how much the cliches of those genres might bother me).
Perception was written by Justin3am. I conceptualized the vocals, but didn't write them. Justin sent me some written lyrics and I said I would like to try singing them on his track (with, in my defense, a bad case of strep). This is his great mix, as my mix wasn't as strong, imo.
Again, thank you so much for listening and taking the time to write me. You didn't have to, so that just makes it all the sweeter. I do like your music, as well, so I will try to give as much response to your tracks in the future.
p.s. based on what you liked about some of the tracks above, you skipped a few you might really enjoy. (Japantazm and Logos Jub come to mind)

Yes, I have a Les paul Studio, A 68 Guild xp500 hollow body, a takamine acoustic electric, and a cheap acoustic to wack with a stick. I play more in other projects, as I try to keep the jazzyspoon project more 'in the box' (or at least thats how it worked out. In ' the emptiest spaces' I am playing the takamine and am greatly manipulating it. And also, some of the guitar is actually an absynth patch that sounds like a guitar, but isn't.Do you play guitar?
I would love to blow your mind with some exotic toy, but I will tell you that the granulizing effects are multiple machines inside Reaktor or simple hand done editing. 4bidden, imparticularly, is a massive amount of effects done by hand.Is that a granulizer you use to get that repeating / stuttering sound, or do you plan on blowing my mind with some sampler synther thinger I've yet to hear of?

I used to, a lot, but I said no to it mostly in 2008. It's still a wonderful machine and I will use it if I have to, but the only thing I don't like about it is how recognizable it is in compositions if someone doesn't take the time to manipulate it properly. In Ash and Dust, a lot of the sample manipulation is actually Artillery 2. which does a lot of the same things as DB glitch, but to a much more incredible degree.Do you use DB glitch by chance?
I'm not sure which you are referring to, but I used a lot of little effects chains like Forma-8, Pitchwheel, and Replicant (all being CC controlled) to create a lot of the little rotating and modulating 'chopped up' bits in this.Man, how do you make that sort of sound?

an early 1970's self hypnosis record I found in a garage sale and then edited to my taste.Where is that from?

Awsome!
Yes thank you for answering the questions, I didn't actually expect them to be answered being as the whole post is so unorganized. It's probably best I just PM you with some more questions (if you don't mind answering them! I've been working electronically for at least two years now and I've never had the opportunity, or better yet taken the opportunity, to ask someone who knows more than me questions), or better yet if you use aim, again if you're interested in chatting!- my sn is traiteuphildor.
I primarily use FL8 and ableton7 live (for mixing things up but I'm not at that point yet, though I plan on using it to DJ as soon as I can get this alesis firewire multimix12 bullshit fixed up). I've only heard of reaktor and it seems I'm missing out!
I'm going to listen to the other tracks, thank you for the reccomendation. I actually got super inspired this morning (like I said, this sort of artistic wake up is kind of what I've been needing) and I've been working on something since I woke up. I'm probably going to take a break soon though!
And btw, did our beloved runagate make a mix of perception? I downloaded a whole bunch of his stuff a few months ago and remember falling in love with that track.
I've also had this idea for a collaboration for a long time but I've needed someone focused and experienced to do it with.
More details in a later post or if I hear from you =)
And thank you for the compliment but I haven't even begun to put the kind of effort in that I need to to get my stuff up to par =P.
Yea I know how exciting it can be to get decent comments and I like putting my thought stream out on other people's stuff so why not!

Great stuff, like I said in the other thread
I don't wanna be the typical noob and ask you what gear you use but I have to say that I'm impressed in the amount of... different single sounds and samples, simply put, you've managed to create
I'd have to say that CHAIN LETTER is one of my favorites. I love how you're able to have so much sound without instruments competing for "audio space". There's a word for that, right?
And lots of different moods is good! I'm mostly not in the same mood for long and I don't think music should be either!
