Anyways, Sylenth is a great sounding synth, and it is a VA, but in terms of sheer clarity, and vibe, it is a VA a bit on the digital side....

I'd like to get the FXpansion, here into the studio, cause I wont judge resonance, filter and envelope response completely based on a 160kbs mp3.......

These synths, have something no other soft, I can think of at current moment have........

Anyways, I didn't get sold on the lenner digital... Great synth, maybe, a bit over-rated maybe... Certainly has a lot of fans... I just get really turned off by whatever is going on Sylenth's high frequencies...

Sylenth sounds good but nothing I've heard from it has the sort of organic character I've heard from these synths...

I didn't get either, or an answer as to whether it will be available as a download to get around shipping and handling/customs/import charges.

I can't tell you how much or when because even I don't know the answer to those questions, so I'm not holding out on you there, you will have to ask Angus or someone else at FXpansion for further details there. Also regards to a download version I do not have that information either, again you will have to wait for an answer from someone at FXpansion.

I have finished all the dsp algorithms on these products, so what you are hearing in the demos is the final product. Doing the audio demos and techy sides of the documentation and finishing off some sse optimsations are my only remaining jobs.

Sorry to not be able to answer your questions, I have answered everything else I possibly can.

Thanks djanthonyw! I'm just trying to gives you guys straight answers to your questions, and there have been some good questions asked. Writing a big blub full of tech details is hard work, but answering a few questions is much easier, and covers loads of details I would forget to bring up but have paid attention to in the past.

Hhee, guilty as charged. I listened to loads to all kinds of industrial electronic stuff like Front242, My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult, NIN, 1000 Homo DJs, Ministry, Prodigy, Autechre, and one of my fav Australian, Noam Chomsky quoting, vegan, hardcore electronic music outfit "Snog".

...Copy protection is our proprietary License Manager, essentially the same system as used on BFD2...

1) For those without BFD2 Angus means that it's a serial number scheme with challenge and response to unlock a single machine, and you get up to 3 unlocks. You are legally allowed to use Synth Squad on one machine at one time only, but this I think could be stretched to using a second machine as a slave vst machine as well.

2) You will have to wait for a response from Angus or someone else at FXpansion on this.

No, seriously - nice body sounds to those thick patches. They did bring something to attention for me though. I listened to all of those MP3s on my PC cheapo speakers, so I'm sure they're even better than I think they are, because I get no bass to speak of with these things. BUT (and I hate to bring a but into the thread, because I've loved everything you're thrown out here so far...)
Really crappy speakers like PC speakers tend to be very sensitive to transients - mine pop like a bastard every time any loud and sharp transient comes their way. In lots of those bass notes, I got pops galore - which means there must be some hellish quick peaks being thrown out. Not sure whether that's a good or bad thing, but from the sound of those patches, I don't think they're supposed to be that peaky. Unless it's something else, some very silent, but loud clippy-bugger spikes are escaping out of Strobe.

I need to transfer them over to my DAW and look at them and play them on proper monitors. It might be my shitty speaker that are the problem, not Strobe at all...

sounds are very good, i especially like strobe filter on the bass patch. cypher audio rate modulation sounds extremely interesting.

also, GUIs are very nice, clear and functional. no silly hardware photos.

will you test with brainspawn forte? these things look like being made for live use! so it is important that they play well when patches are changed (sending vst data on scene change) and the like.

also channel aware midi learn and program changes are useful for live players.

how about polyphonic aftertouch? do they react to that?

- there is still some roland a50s and midiboards around
- a new polyAT is coming out (infinite response vax77)
- sequencers like reaper allow sequencing of polyAT messages, nice for note specific filtering and such

[oh and yes, two machines licenses are nice and fair. i have a backup laptop for gigging!]

The sounds are the raw output of the synth put through a slight leveling buss compressor. I really should high pass filter at 20 Hz, since large low frequency signals will make tinsy speakers pop. Strobe only has dc blocking filters down at around 2.5 Hz.

Q3. Will this pack work on what are now annoyingly called 'legacy' machines..ie non SSE2/3/4 cpu's (such as Athlon XP3000+, which has SSE, but not SSE2)
