I doubt this will sound as good as Reason's Thor - which has probably the best filters of any software synth right now.

How do you make a blanket statement like that? Have you experienced every software synth around? Are there articles in music media mag's, that say Thor's filters are far superior to anything else?

I haven't used Reason 4, but I've used previous versions of Reason, and a few years ago, NI had a real edge over the Subtractor, and Maelstrom, and the distortion in Reason, was/is, terribly digital sounding.

That isn't to say Reason isn't used by Pro's left and right. It is. Absolutely, Reason has made it all over, and has, and will continue to have a place in professional studios, with professional producers.

But, software changes. New things are developed all the time. Anways, some companies, especially FXpansion, where BFD is practically everywhere, can make some great synths too.

The filters on Rapture are great too btw... I think you would be surprised, if you lined up THOR and RAPTURE... You'd have a hard time hearing which actually has better filters.

Don't forget, Cakewalk, is not a small little baby... The team that worked on Rapture, is some of the best in the bizz as well.

However, Rapture is an entirely digital wavetable synth. Thor? Is that supposed to be a VA? Sounds digital to me, in a lot of the vid's on Reason's website....

These Synth Squad synths, have a very different philosophy from Thor, and Rapture!! Also, I expect the Synth Squad synths to best Raptures filters... It can totally be heard in the examples that have been provided.

Ah- from what I heard at the show, you'd be wrong. And, I don't consider Thor as having the best filters of currently available softsynths anyways; that probably goes to VirSyn's TERA. The one really outstanding filter in Thor is the formant filter IMO...

Furthermore, My love affair with Tera was totally messed up by Howard, because he managed to awaken my ears to the fact that Tera, although analog sounding in many aspects, is indeed a bit on the cold side.....

Krishna has a bloody fine multi-mode in it as well. But, exepct to be able to bring any dual core machine to a halt with one or two instances of Krishna.... And Krishna has a very glassy hi mid range.... somewhere between 2,700 and 4,700 htz...

Yeah fine, it might be cool. The examples so far and their talk about it is promising, but there is no reason to start talking about which is better when you haven't even tried them. You think you can base this on a few examples? Damnit.

Yeah you said it yourself. It can "totally" be heard on the few audio examples we've heard so far? I haven't even heard decent usage of filters other than sweeping. Maybe i just missed the files.

It is certainly correct idiomatically. It is most likely correct grammatically as well. Chances are you've not read much English Lit...

I'm certainly not afraid to be criticized by people like you. Who so obviously have not been to college, if they've never heard the word best, used in that idiomatic expression.

Sure i do. More in American litterature, though. The "real" english litterature (including new and old) first got its time 3rd year of high school (optional level A english class i took).

But again, i wasn't out to be a jerk, certainly you took it that way. I just tried to say that its hard to say such things when you haven't tested it. I might have said it in a rude way, which i apologize.

I've often used that word as a "filler" or to give a sentence "power". Instead of "know nothing", i just said "know squat".

I edited a bit in my message though, too rude. Just on the edge of my nerves today i guess heh..
