OK, heres what it looks like ....

Image

Wav-sticine is a sample player/synth which can reshape the envelope of a wav sample.

A sample should load automatically, but if it doesn't, you can select one.
patch 1 plays the wav unaffected .. for auditioning purposes.
A pitch lfo is included, and different waveforms can be used. ( try the pink noise! .... good for tape dirt! )

The leveller takes the sample and levels its amplitude throughout ... a bit like an extreme limiter .... bear in mind, this can involve amplification of the quieter parts of the sample up to 50x ... so any intermodulation, background noise etc, hitherto unheard, will become beautifully apparent!!

The leveller control will distort the louder parts of the wave if it is set high .. otherwise, it doesn't do a lot! ... it is however best set low for low freq sounds.

The levelled signal is fed to an adsr, and it is here you can give the sample a brand new envelope shape!

There are independent output volumes for the unaffected sample, the levelled sample and the shaped sample, so you can mix and match for a whole range of different sounds from the simplest of wav samples. Use it to change attack and tails on drum samples, turn a piano note into a cello, etc etc ...

I've had a load of fun with this one, and i aim to have a lot more! ...hope you like it! :)

Will check this out, if there was any link available. A bit of an advice tho. You should really get hold of some fresher GUI's for your synths. No offence intended, but it sertainly can't harm to have a plugin look more designed than this. People here tend to turn away from SynthEdit plugins.

:edit:
So I had a test of it, and how is it? Well it ain't good. It crashed my computer so bad that FL Studio won't quit. Neither via the default quit function, nor via the task manager, nor via tools like ProcessKiller. So the only way to force it to quit is with the tool called Power Off. :D

So I did a reboot and it loaded nicely. I had a few minutes of playing it, and I have to say it is a nice plugin that I don't have any use for. I'm sure others have tho.

Yeah jobromedia, I dont pretend my skins are anything other than slightly more entertaining than the ol default synthedit blue, and would welcome any offers by anyone to skin any of them ... there are a couple in the pipeline actually.
However I personally dont really care much what a plug looks like, as long as it is laid out and labelled in a logical sort of way. I have no commercial interest at the moment at least, and so the bottom line I suppose is, I love experimenting, designing, building synths and effects, learning more about the process, and using them in my music, ...but I cant be arsed with the visual aspect, and though I would like them to look nicer, I would rather be working on the next music/synth project/idea than polishing knobs.
Sorry if that comes across as arrogant, it isnt meant to be, just honest. It really doesn't make a lot of difference to me whether people are put off by synthedit or not, and I have no urge to pretend they are anything else but SE creations.

lets face it, theres plenty criticism about FLs GUI, but it doesn't stop me using it as a matter of preference.

On the sound/function side though, thanks especially for your comments. Its good to hear the downside as well as the positive comments ... in fact it is usually more helpful from a learning perspective to hear about problems users may have had.

This is the first time I've heard of one of my plugs destabilising anyones setup .... but I am not complacent enough to assume it is the only time it's ever happened ... it would be good to hear from others who may have had probs.
So, sorry it farted you about, and glad it worked out OK. it's the first time I've embedded a sample in a plug. it would be good to know if this is perhaps the flaw. In view of the hassle, its all the more I appreciate you trying it out and feeding back to me. :)

Anyway, to reiterate, I would welcome any input re. visually tarting up any of my synths/effects .... gimme a shout, and go for yer life! :)

Oh ... and the link is my sig ... click on either of the urls and go to the vst synths folder.

I use FL Studio pretty much 100% of the time as main host.
I'd say I have to cold boot (power off button) more than once a day (sometimes several times it seems) because FL freezes or is otherwise unresponsive and I can't End Process in Task Manager. The memory usage seems to mushroom from 30,000 to 420,000 or so.
Will check out Process Killer and Power Off if I can locate them.

Power Off was just a sarcastic joke from my side. I ment the power off button. :D ProcessKiller on the other hand is a free tool that I use sometimes.

Thanks. I've used PO so much, I hardly get PO'd at all anymore.
I was able to kill FL.exe using Advanced Process Terminator and Process Killer by obtaining the Process ID, but then later it didn't work and I had to PO for the night.

Am I the only one who can't get FL.exe to terminate by any other method?
Why in the heck does it never (almost never) quit by normal methods??

I used to have the same prob with FLS, but it was more to do with my PC. Since changing my PC, to one which has a slightly faster processor, but similar specs, FLS runs fine and closes fine ... even with project files which were impossible to open before, and would freeze the system.
I never did find out what the problem actually was, or whether the solution was the new PC, or the fresh install scenario. it is quite possible that the old PC had simply become 'fuzzed up' with extraneous crap that wouldn't shift by the usual clean up methods.

Having said that tho, I did have a freeze up with that doppler plug which was recently on KVR fx thread and had to use task manager to close the prog.

Anyway, now I have the weekend gigs out of the way, back to the Wav-Sticine potential problem.

I'm gonna delete the plug from my vst folder, and download it from the hosting site to see if I have any probs loading it afresh.

I'll report back.

Post

OK, I deleted the plug, opened FLS, refreshed in FLS to remove it from the list, closed FLS, downloaded Wav-Sticine to my vsts folder, opened FLS, refreshed to add the plug to the list, opened the plug, and everything worked just fine!
Went through all the presets, all sounding right, and then closed FLS without a hitch.

So, whilst I am more than willing to sort out any prob with the plug, I am unable to find a prob with the info I have presently. If any other users have downloaded Wav-Sticine and had a prob loading or using it, please, please tell me about it .... I would be interested in developing this plug further ... maybe even learn some 'skinology!' .... but no point if there is a bug lurking!

Thanks very much for history/info on your past FL problems.
Sorry to divert from main topic.
I'm long over due for maintenance/cleanup/etc.
That's most likely a major reason for my problems.

No probs at all MG ... Hope you get things working smoother, and hope my input has been useful :)

right on. very helpful.
Now I need to make time to test your plugs!

:D

... heres a time saving tip .... avoid any beginning with 'Fred' .... those are my early efforts, and useful as they have been, and slightly quirky they may be, they are nothing earthshattering. :hihi:

I've been a bit lax in updating the info text files, but will do eventually.

Long live Fred!

Long live Fred!
:hihi: ... as I sit here with a beer in one hand and a cig in the other ( except when I'm typing ) I wonder if we perhaps have a conflict of interests :D

keep me typing ... I'll live longer! :hihi:

Hey Nekro again in for another plug-in by your good self ;) - really looking forward to trying it. I use Ableton Live 7 as my VST/VSTi host; so any problems and i sure as hell will let you know mate (least i can do considering you are giving your stuff away for free and i like it too).

Oh whilst i remember to ask, is their any news/progress on that sort of collab with Dover for a new FSU plug-in if you remember? if not no probs and as i said i shall give you some feedback on how stuff is behaving in Live

All the best and cheers Fred
