Anybody heard of this?

http://www.midi2wav.com/

Im going to download the demo as it sounds promising ("9 years in the making"). I've been looking for something like this for a while and downloaded a similar product a while back that was similar and not so accurate.

Im not a "musician" by skill or theory but am very naturally musically inclined (i.e. I know the sounds I'd like to create, what sounds good and what doesn't....all in my head of course). I've always wanted a tool that could record me humming or whistling and translate that into notes, chords, correct time signature, etc (because I can whistle like a freak'n Mozart!) :D

Can anybody relate? Any other "non-musicians" out there who use different methods for music recognition or capturing ideas in your head that get lost in the time it takes to discover the notes on the keyboard (guitar or any other medium)?

midi2wav does the opposite of what you want - takes notes stored on the computer and turns it into something you can hear.

You want to go the other way. There are tools that can theoretically (wav -> MIDI) do that, but I don't know of any as I have no need for one. Musicians are generally more interested in recording an instrument (such as a guitar or flute), but humming should work just as well (or badly).

You might want to read up on what MIDI actually is (google, wiki). It's got nothing to do with audio and everything to do with musical data (notes, tempo and the like).

lol woops, no Im good on the MIDI concept.

I meant to link http://www.akoff.com/music-composer.html

"It is as easy as humming a tune into a microphone and Composer will do the rest. Composer will take into consideration individual performance style tracking note dynamics and pitch bends."

I found it on an other page that listed the product as "miditowav" but the description was pretty much wav to midi like above.

wow, this thing is actually pretty cool!

Im sure there are ways of fine tuning it but check out the example wav to midi files posted on the site and they are damn accurate. I hooked a mic up and whistled a couple tunes and it was accurate.

I also cut some wavs and tried to convert with nice results!
