One of my concerns with using the EZAG at a wedding is that it does have a bit of a Fisher-Price look to it, especially for a formal event.
I haven't had issue with the EZ-AG itself (its black, small, unobtrusive, and sounds impressive through big speakers). My issue has been the "science project" look with different cables coming out everywhere. That's why I consolidated all the funny little boxes into a rugged-looking rack that clamps on the music stand and is very low profile from the audience. From the rack (right side from my perspective) to the EZ-AG is a single, pro-looking 2m black umbilical all nicely cable-wrapped that breaks out to the four plugs for the EZ-AG. The four-plug connection also gives a very strong support and strain relief for the fairly whimpy power connector. I never have problems with plugs coming out or making noisy pops while I move around. Out the left side of the rack, is another neatly-wrapped umbilicle with a single power plug, and a 1/4" female jack for connection to the PA. i suppose you could set the control/power complex on the floor behind you and have only the EZ-AG visible for an ultra-clean appearance (if you have all your music memorized :-)).

Overall, the look is clean and professional, even in a very nice church or garden. Most people just think it is "some hi-tech synthisizer guitar thing-y". It feels more FP than it looks, but I'm the only one who touches it, and it has held up under regular heavy playing :-) I hope to post some pix soon.

I'm selling my EZ-EG. I put it up on amazon for $250, but I will sell it for $220 if you contact me (amazon takes a ridiculous commission). It comes with all of the original manuals, software, the power adapter, and the UX16 midi interface. Its in great condition and ships in its original box. Send me an email at bk77171@appstate.edu (mailto:bk77171@appstate.edu) if you are interested.

hello, i just bought an EZ-AG guitar, and i'm trying to use your scripts to use it as a midi controller, unfortunatly the Midi Yoke thing doesn't work on windows Vista, do anybody have a solution?

thank you

Midi Yoke works great on Vista. You might want to try some of the different downloads, there are versions for like WIn me and stuff.

The xp one should work, worked right away for me.

Hello! I'm in the market to buy an EZ-EG. They seem to come up on eBay & Amazon from time to time, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions on where to look? Obviously also - if someone is looking to sell then please let me know.

Thanks!

I don't know anywhere else to buy them. Occasionaly someone offers one here, but not often at all.

Maybe Yamaha Japan?

Hi there,

I've had the EZ-AG for about two weeks and can't get it to work right with Logic Express 8. I am so frustrated that I will probably return it. I solved the low velocity note problem with a Transformer filter. But that somehow disables the mute bar (or ignores messages sent by it). Also, while playing internal instruments, the notes stop sounding when I lift my fingers off the fret buttons. When I play a software instrument in Logic, instruments sustain indefinitely even after I lift my fingers off the frets. I don't play keys but I am considering getting a keyboard controller with a good arpeggiator. It would be easier. Any suggestions? I have read some of the posts here about downloadable software to make the AG play better, but I am not a computer wiz and most of them are for Windows and I run OS-X. Thanks for any advice.

I couldn't tell you as I do not know.

The only way the notes play forever is if you turn the speaker off. Turn the volume down instead.

jutaika,

I am new to this forum and I am also an OS X user. I purchased the Yamaha EZ-AG for two reasons: to learn guitar (I am a keyboard player) and to use the guitar to pick or strum through MIDI to my Macintosh to open a world of synthesizer sounds. I multi-track with DAW software (Digital Performer 5.12 and Ableton Live7) and want to use the guitar expressions instead of only what I can do on the keyboards.

I have successfully used MidiIPipe 1.4.3 to filter out the low velocity fret notes. I give a 20 minute video demo on my website using the Yamaha EZ-AG as a MIDI instrument. I did not use MidiPipe to filter out low-velocity fret notes in this demo. All I did was plug a 1/4" plug into the headphone jack to mute the guitar's speaker. I had problems with certain synthesizer patches holding the note on, but I used the mute bar on the guitar to turn notes off.

I am not a guitar player, so the demo would have been better if someone who could play guitar were to do the demo.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say that I am selling my ezag on ebay but first I'd like to thank everyone on this thread for their invaluable info and especially to the guys who took the time to develop and share the patches for this crazy instrument. It was pretty easy to set up in the end and I've had a lot of fun with it. I've only had it for 2 weeks and it must have come from bankrupt stock because it was brand new in the box but its not for me. I dont want this to sound like an advert beacuse of been meaning to come on here and offer my thanks but if anyone is interested I want £170 for it and its on ebay. Uk only though :)I hope people dont mind but I've referenced this thread and others in my listing and will include some of the patches etc with the item on cd with a rough guide how to set it up. If anyone has any issues with that I'll happily remove any reference to it. Its pretty much an 'as new' item. If it doesn't sell I'll probably keep it for a while because its a fun thing and great for playing in pads and basslines and in reply to those who think it looks like a toy I think it looks well cool certainly cooler than an 80's yammy keytar but maybe I'm weird.

Hello guys, I am new in this forum--just bought a new EZ-AG and trying to figure it out. Somewhere in the beginning of this thread there was mentioned a script that will allow one to stop a note if it is played through a synth. Can someone, please, help me figure out how to find a script/program regarding this issue. I will be so grateful.

Post

My script program is found at http://www.TenCrazy.com/

Windows only, and I'm honestly unsure which versions work these days: I haven't used my EZ in literally years!

I just got a ez-eg used.. I am wondering if its broken or if all ex-eg are like that... lets say I mute 5 of the 6 strings and then struck the 1 string... what happens is that it produces a sound from the other string even when not plugged in midi and using the internal speaker... Is this normal.. If it is is there a way to prevent these notes from sending a midi message when recording....
Thanx alot
