Stuttering sound with StompIO and X-Gear

Any StompIO users have trouble with a stuttering sound when switching patches? I am getting this a lot with my rig, using X-Gear & StompIO. It doesn't happen on all patches, but usually it happens when I am in the middle of a song and switching patches (as opposed to switching when there is no audio going through) -- the sound will stutter for a few seconds (sounding a lot like when you are flicking the pickup switch ala Van Halen). It's making this almost unusable in a live situation. I wonder if it's my laptop that is the problem, it's got 2GB of RAM and is an 1800 MHz Athlon XP-M, so it should handle the patch switches, I would think.

(FWIW, I did open a support ticket with IKM, but wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas)
