Well there is the new softtube fet compressor which is an 1176 model that is just out. Does that fair any better than the others? Can you please list the others you have tested and found don't match up to the hardware?

It is very natural sounding. It's a matter of taste to pick a setting you like rather than the current state of afairs for lots of compressors which seems to be trying for ages to coax a setting with doesn't completely ruin your mix. But then again I am biased, so please judge for yourself when it comes out!

The softube one wouldn't be in direct compitition with you IMO. A) It's iLok only (you're filling a huge gap in the market by not going that route), and B) it costs around double what you stated you to intend to sell The Glue for (though in fairness to them, it seems like you haven't settled in a final price yet). Not only that, I question the necessity of the extra controls.

In terms of what else is out there, my most recent experience with the hardware is tracking an EP where the Purple MC77 got some serious use prior to going to tape (snare, and vocal in particular) and compared to that the UAD version feels similar in terms of attack/release response but not in terms of the aggressive character of the actual unit. The BFD2 comp does this better (the distortion in Nuke mode rules). Native-wise there's not much else I can compare to an 1176. I'd say Stillwell's The Rocket is probably the next closest in that it gets that superfast attack down well, but something in the release of that one doesn't feel quite right to me (though I do keep meaning to try it out again). Shy of that, none of the Sonalksis comps sound anywhere near it, nor do any popular offerings like the ones from Fabfilter, Voxengo, Kjaerhus, etc. DDrummer's comps are excellent, but none are 1176-ish either.

So in terms of a non-dongled, affordable, aggressive and accurate 1176 clone, I don't think you'd have much competition at all. Especially when it comes to a straight emulation.

Yes I agree with Funkybot - in terms of affordable non-dongle, yet very high quality plugins - there is not much competition. Soft-tube is a bit of a luxury - being very expensive and iLok. Pretty much everybody heralds the Tubetech Powercore compressor by Soft tube - but the response to the FET compressor seems to have been fairly luke-warm and even the Gearslutz are balking at the price. I have the UAD1176 but would still welcome a native one if it was as good. I would think there is a decent market for it in theory.....but I dont know the whole story....

Yes, it's the same as the first example, dry then wet on each different loop.

Also it's the same setting applied to all the loops just to show that you can throw different levels / frequencies / mixes at it and it levels them all out for you pretty transparently.

Well Andy i think i wont even bother waiting for a demo on this one to be honest mate, i am just going to buy it and my mind is already made up. Though i will have to use my best friends paypal thing as i do not have one myself (need to rectify that soon, just a pain in the ass to go to my bank and start fiddling with paper work to change up my very simple account. The reason why? i have not had the internet very long - and i miss out on some bargains because of that! Sorry me typing out loud lol). So will it be fine to pay for the glue via a paypal account that is not mine Andy? (its all a bit confussing for a simple 26 year-old guy like me teaching an oldish dog new tricks...etc: im getting the hang of stuff though much better than i was a year ago

)

Sorry for the long winded question mate. I definately will be buying teh Glue and if it means more Cytomic plug-ins in the future even better
