TAL-Chorus-60 vs. UAD Dimension D

Yes to that. I haven't tried it on vocal yet, but if you use the pitch Uhbik and bump it up a hair and mix it in a little you can get chorus style effects that are a little more subtle.

I still can't seem to get the wide stereo chorus that my Boss VF-1 can do though. My SonicCell can do it too. What the hell is Roland doing that's so damn good?! I guess I could try to run my signal though the SonicCell but I worry that will introduce latency issues in a live situation.

I tried the Detune plugin and there was the solution! Transparent widening with no obvious chorusing effects.

Maybe my ears have gone wonky but I don't think the TAL unit sounds anything like the UAD Dimension D. I do have a recollection though of being struck by how close I could get to the Roland's imaging with Audio Damage's Vapor. Gotta try it out again to check...

the chorus gets switched on about halfway through

there is still no vst that gets close. i've tried all of them. the bbd chorus just sounds wider and more liquid. I wonder if Nebula 3 could have a sampled juno chorus emulation with the dynamic convolution?

if you want to go outboard, behringer has a nice dimension c clone (analog) for cheap. the only thing is that it's got a very small headroom and starts clipping on bass easily

there is something pretty amazing about the Roland chorus - almost magical - I was blown away how much it transformed the Jx3p sound...

overloud th1 amp sim has a very good dimension emu that i've been using often. have you tried that?

Dimension D sounds nothing like a Juno60 chorus. I don't think it was meant to as it's based on the Dimension C I think? I would say that the TAL Chorus is about 90% accurate when compared to the chorus in the real Juno60 that I use in the studio.

Tonight I fooled around with TAL-Chorus-60 a little and it reminded me a lot of the UAD Dimension D plugin. When I had tried the DimD demo I remember liking it's very subtle widening effect without really sounding like a chorus. I think that you can get a very similar sound with the TAL-Chorus-60 plugin setting the knobs more or less at 12 o'clock.

What do you guys think of these two plugs and how do they compare?

Arturia is almost identical to uad, then overloud gem mod and even better Modula., also mercurial Chorus WS-1 chorus pedal (free) and of all these tal-chorus is between, if the uad is too expensive (it does sound better, more balanced) and uad brigade chorus., but in guitar pedal format its stuff lke brigade chorus, plugin alliancce AD Flanger brigade, Blue chorus etc, the best pedal format for me has been the fuse audio labs chorus-65..i had tried kuasa and pedal wise UAD is best, they just sound so good..

I've tried a LOT of chorus plugins, and Overloud Modula and also XILS ChorX are both better sounding than any UAD or TAL chorus (or almost any other chorus on the market with just a couple of exceptions). Those both have a Dimension D mode.

If the tonality works, Audiority Chorus Ensemble is also great (and better than the UAD emulation) - but that's a Boss pedal, not the DimD. D16 Syntorus 2 is another stellar chorus effect, and the Clearmountain one is great, too.

Any opinion on the Xfer Dimension Expander. Probably a better free option than TAL. As is Acon's Multiply. Honestly never listened to TAL Chorus the same again after finding this dated but excellent review. Ring modulation, eh?

I also collect chorus plugins and Kuassa CH3604 has a dimensional option. I find it to be a good quick & dirty temp to flip through the choices and see if I want to go deeper or more surgical with another chorus.

When I compared TAL-Chorus, and the Arturia Chorus Jun-6, I found them very different as well. I have no idea which ones is closer to the real deal.

I like the sound of the Arturia though. My most used chorus effect at the moment.
