Should the rhythm grid work in the demo?

I'm just checking out Atomic and i set up a couple of tracks in Live with Drumazon receiving midi from atomic. The rhythmic grid is active but it doesn't retrigger the kick on drumazon. Is this because midi out is disabled? Just checking it's a demo limitation and not some setting. I've checked the manual and it doesn't say anything about the rhythmic grid being disabled in the demo. Cheers.

Hi, yes, disabled-midi-out was the main demo limitation. But it works great in the full version! I posted an 'Atomic torture test: Survival is GOOD' thread in the instruments forum last week with some details :)

Thanks glokraw. I'll check out the thread, i'm most interested in the midi out feature and some of the stuff i've read on the various uses sound really interesting. :)

I checked the threas thinking there might be demos! But your saying it works well after rigorous testing. Btw, how do the lfos etc control other instruments? Won't the instrument need to be able to receive that type of message? I'm just thinking of how i would apply lfos and step modulations to to drum sequences...

On page 7 of the manual, velocity, and things that respond to it, are indicated as likely recipients, in the meantime, here is a way those with the full version can set up some simplified testing:

1.load the Def-Seq in Atomic, and in another track, something with drums mapped over part of the keyboard.
2.Shorten the Atomic sequence to just one beat, and mute the second beat, with the sequencer direction playing > (forward)
3.Put Atomic in seq mode, the 'synt' button not lit up.
4 Find a drum sound on the keyboard you want to adjust, and in the first group of dials, turn the middle knob full right so you can hear easily, and the smallest innermost dial, full right, then >almost< full left, as some sounds won't trigger at all with the knob all the way to the left, and compare the results.
5.Change the rate dial to slow the sequence down making it easier to hear when testing sounds
Save this one-step sequence with a descriptive name for future use.
6.Expand the sequence to 16 steps, with each semitone having a separate value in order, 1-16, with velocity and volume knobs full on, and save it with a useful name.
Do the same with with the velocity knobs almost full off ('almostoff' allows the sounds to
be played at minimum velocity). These will save you time when comparing your edits on groups of drum sounds that Atomic can play for you like they were kits.

For larger groups of drums mapped on your keyboard, you can make, name, and save 3 presets, with semitones starting at -24 through -9, another with semitones -8 through 8, and a third one with semitones 9 through 24. Load 3 instances of Atomicwith these presets, and 'they' can play 48 drums at once, in whatever way you instruct them!
Cheers

Awesome stuff. I had a little play with the synth as well and it sounds really good. Great for quickly laying down basslines. I found the midi assignments in the midi out section, very nice.

This a great plugin, the sequencer is killer and good onboard synth as well. I can see i'm gonna have some fun with this! :D

Nice work Tim. :)

That's just my inital impression with the synth. Got a very nice bottom end.

Gawd knows what havoc can be wreaked using several instances to sequence other instruments. It's a like having the mod sequencer from an R3 in plugin format but i can use it on anything. With the bonus of a very nice onboard synth as well and for $40!!This a good example of why some want plugins with step sequencers to output midi imo. :)
