Hi... has any one with IK software had issues when getting a new hard drive? I want to put a bigger one in my macbook. But I'm thinking the software might think its a different computer. Has anyone had experience of this, good or bad?
thanks..
thanks..

yep it does
I had a rant that I think was moved to the moan zone about it...Lost one authorisation on all my IK stuff, no other software asked for reauthorisation
, although in fairness I am not sure if it was the new hard sample hard drive or removing the old sample hard drive to become my c drive which did it.

That is an odd one.

Spectrasonics is the kindest C/R I know of (has allowed different installs numerous times) , They really just want the serial numberzvenx wrote:nope nope and nope.hibidy wrote:anything challenge/response is going to look at a new hard drive as a new digital ID.

NI has always requested a new response for any kind of new challenge, though I believe the NI center does this far more efficiently than before.
Anyways, not trying to argue, just stating what has happened to me with C/R

Even propellerheads stuff which although doesn't technically use a c/r but if the id is sufficiently changed will prompt you to reenter the password and the install cd's even those didn't budge only IK.

Ok..but NI service center usually tells you it is unauthorised before it authorise.hibidy wrote:Spectrasonics is the kindest C/R I know of (has allowed different installs numerous times) , They really just want the serial numberzvenx wrote:nope nope and nope.hibidy wrote:anything challenge/response is going to look at a new hard drive as a new digital ID.

yes, sorry, I used your forum because I thought there would be a little experience here, and a quick answer.
I did go to IK support, but needed to specify software products/versions/serials etc. a whole bunch of stuff that was irrelevant to my simple question, and which I don't have here at work. So i bailed outa there...
There's no problem, just wanted a heads up about what I could expect after a hardware upgrade.

Any copy protection that includes a system ID will have issues with new hard drives.someone called simon wrote:There's no problem, just wanted a heads up about what I could expect after a hardware upgrade.

IKMs so called copy protection is a major PITA. Look at my thread in the effects forum. Almost 3 weeks now and no solution ...

I know exactly what you mean. That form is absolutely terrible. It's clearly designed to prevent you from bothering them.someone called simon wrote:I did go to IK support, but needed to specify software products/versions/serials etc. a whole bunch of stuff that was irrelevant to my simple question, and which I don't have here at work.
