Most players own bigger amps, so recording them in your home studio environment becomes a critical thing due to the required level you need to make those amps sound nice. The Blackstar however features a 5W only power amp section (plus a speaker sim on the line out), so it's a lot easier to record - hence it could be used sort of easier to replace amp sims.johnrrrrrr wrote: Do people who have amp modelers not have amps? So dude..if amps negated anything..there would be no modeler sales
But generally, you're right. I use both amp sims and real amps for various reasons and I'm absolutely fine with that.

Amplitube, IMO. My brother's got a Fender Twin so I'm really used to the tone and I think the Amplitube nails it. Overloud... sounds good but not not the same. I think you should also wait a month and reask this question when you can download the new Amplitube Fender edition and side by side test the two.electro wrote:Amplitube Fender Twin or Overloud Fender Twin?

Got the demo and have been seriously testing it. Today, though, Pro Tools crashed several times with an error message I have never seen before. Always when I was trying to load Camelspace as a wrapped VST. I'm running PT 8 which, up to today, has been astonishingly stable with all my wraps.
I took a step back. Should I --
A) put in a support ticket to Digi (average one week minimum to resolve anything. and they typically request at least an hour of my time to make diagnostic tests).
B) Flag Camel Audio support (have no idea what their CS is like -- never had the slightest problem with this plug in the four years I've owned it. Remarkably stable).
C) Uninstall Pace and see if that works.
"C" was the quick and dirty and I have already formulated my (very positive) opinion of TH1. I uninstalled the APP and Pace. Problem gone.

I gave up on PACE myself and broke down and bought an iLOK.... I hated doing it but a few other VSTs also used it and all has run fine since eliminated PACE from my system. (It is a real pain to completed rid off the system, editing the reg, etc. on a WINTEL machine).

It's actually easy to uninstall, as long as it was installed properly. So if the plugin dev didn't do the installer right, or if you didn't use the official installer, you may have problems. You can always try downloading the latest drivers from their website(the PACE website), install it, and then uninstall it like any other program.jkleban wrote:I gave up on PACE myself and broke down and bought an iLOK.... Anyways, iLok still uses PACE. Just a different type of PACE. I've never once had an issue with either though.

According to what was quoted earlier in the thread, the lates Pace drivers will uninstall through a simple click in the add/remove section of the control panel. I am assuming that is true. That is what I did. If it is not true...errr...that would be a very bad thing.

Trevor,
I think that it leaves some residue in your REG and the only way to eliminate it is to do a REGEDIT routine which I hate doing. I have a PURE DAW, with only AUDIO stuff (no FREEBIES, no WAREZ) just to make sure it stays HEALTHY and these PACE drivers scare me.
New question, any word on the new version of TH1? There was a lot of buzz on this site when it was first released but I don't hear quite as much about it now.

Amplitube does a simple C/R system and it's stable as can be. I've never had a single issues with any of them.

zeroc... I too love and use Amplitube and the guy who developed TH1 also did the original work on Amplitube (I think I read this somewhere). The nice thing about TH1 vs Amplitube is that the signal chain is changeable in TH1 but somewhat fixed in AT2. IMO, they sound about the same and with AT2 being around longer, more emulations are needed on the TH1 before this product can really compete.

I really look forward to getting my hands on the 1.1 update. I've held off reviewing the 1.0-era product as I think the improvements will greatly improve it (which isn't to say that it sucks or anything, but they know what people want and they're doing it, good on the company for that). I'll have clips of it and comparative stuff on my blog, and it should be in the next issue of Frugal (we had originally wanted to do it this issue but the 1.1 patch got delayed, so we pushed it back an issue).

Wow, thanks for the heads up. Going to check it out now!
EDIT: This has more than I originally knew it to have. Now THIS is how you do an update.
