OK,
I have Infinite Player and Drum Masters Gold (not all downloaded yet ;) ).

Looking around the downloads and installs, I have located the following docs:
  • KP2 Infinite Player Manual v1.1.pdf
  • Drum Masters Manual v1.1.pdf
  • KP224 Readme.txt
Neither of the main manuals describes the basics of using IP or KP2 - am I missing something?

--------------
Info for interested readers:

KP2 Infinite Player Manual v1.1 describes
-- how to install and register the software,
-- how to install the library,
-- how to open KP2 as a standalone player and as a VSTi in various hosts,
-- how to optimise performance,
-- audio and MIDI setup for standalone mode.

Drum Masters Manual v1.1 describes
-- how to load drum grooves,
-- the custom parameters (Control, Envelope, EQ and Groove) for the Drum Masters Grooves,
-- how to load a drum kit,
-- IMAP and GM format,
-- the custom parameters (Control and Envelope) for the Drum Masters Stereo Kits,
-- the custom parameters (Direct Pan, Room Vol, OH Vol, Velocity) for the Drum Masters Multi-track Kits,
-- Outputs Multis and assigning outputs in Pro Tools

KP224 Readme decribes
-- some limitations and constraints
-- the history of version releases

I concur with your findings. I've been asking for information about a more detailed manual, but haven't yet heard back from the Squids.

From talking to Allen almost a month ago, when I first started using IP, he informed me that a manual was in the works, which explains all about the extra tom channels and stuff. Squids himself has referred to things being "in the manual" (such as settings for maximizing IP efficiency), but I suspect that he is referring to a manual that is not yet available to the customerbase.

I am most interested in learning about that OMNI problem, and assorted other things I can't find the answers for. I hope a more useful manual is on the way... and/or those video tutorials. :ud:

Squids definitely promised some vids on these subjects. I also have the Drum Masters Gold package and it would be nice to be able to get the most out of it.

In fairness, Squids also said that there were some free updates coming for IP. If so, I assume that the delay in documentation is to include those changes.

Sorry I've had my head in something else this week. There was an answer to the omni question but since it is 1:30am and I have had a little bit of sake I will just check with the guys and make sure I have the answer to that straight.

Yes, the idea of using the grooves and the kit as it currently is was to put the kit and the grooves on separate midi channels because otherwise they overlap. However, I've come up with what I think is a better system for it. I mentioned it in the other thread. Right now we're working on an update that has subsets of grooves that go together mapped to C6 and above chromatically for up to 2 octaves. This can play along side the full drum kit all on the same midi channel. As we're doing it I can see if it is entirely necessary that it is even in Omni as opposed to say... midi channel 10? I'll find out about what the deal is on that exactly.

Regarding videos and addendum manuals I am only lagging a little bit on that but we're working on a proper launch for Drum Masters to happen within the next week. I've at least uploaded a bunch of demonstrations from NAMM (both recent and older) for those who want to see that. It's In fact, I even put up old Miroslav and Sonik Synth 2 videos... it's basically Sonic Reality TV (or Squids TV because there's so much with various amounts of hair as well). So I hope you enjoy that in the meantime while we put together THOROUGH tutorial videos... once we get going with those types of videos we will likely be doing LOTS of them.

I am just training new personnel, interviewing people for sales and doing a million things at once... plus, I just did a deal today with someone who I think is a genius in recording and I can't wait to do that project later in the year. It's one of those studio muso type projects and involves some very FUNKY drums.

But, anyway, yes, let's talk about Drum Masters as much as you want. Ask away. I will get you all up to speed on what this deep product can do.
