Heya

looking for a tutorial on writing melodies for house music, electro, progressive house!!

found some on trance, but thats not what i want..

if anyone has any tutorials or info please help me out :cry:

I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, but what's the difference?

There's really no rules for melodic composition. Honestly you could take some basic classical composition lessons and use that knowledge in electronica, actually that's what I do, and you won't need to go far in classical composition before you get to a level of complexity which is just not necessary in commercial house music. Progressive/experimental is a different story.

If you want a quick fix just learn and start playing around with modes. You can even lump them in groups - ionian, aeolian are your major and minor diatonic scales for commercial stuff, dorian, lydian, mixolydian for slightly more interesting stuff, phrygian and locrian are great for your weird/heavy/progressive stuff.

there's no special music theory you need to learn, just sample your favorite Disco record and there you go. simple as that.
