Alan just did a re-mix of "All Of Me," setting the Bosendorfer back in the mix with some reverb. This has more of a live jazz club sound.

Here is the link..

Nice :D

I like the Bardstown Bösendorfer demo on http://purgatorycreek.com/pianocompare.html most. Too bad it's too expensive for me. ;)

My web master changed the link to this demo.

Here is the correct demo link to "All Of Me."

Hi Durk,

Glad you like the Purgatory Creek demo.

Many thanks,

hey i'm curious what sort of reverb and what was used on the piano piece ?

Anyway some slick playing there, sound pretty neato.

Bluey,

the reverb that was used is called
"Sonitus FX Reverb" This reverb has many parameters which include wet and dry controls. It is part of Sonar 3.0 Producer's effects and can also be used as a plug in in Samplitude Professional.

Thanks for your kind thoughts..appreciate it..

That is an incredible piano. Wow. I would never have guessed that it wasn't real.

However, the guitar is just not a jazz guitar. Take a listen to The Oscar Peterson Trio or something like that. These cats go for a very dark and round sound. This sounds more like a spanish guitar. Also, because it's so bright it competes with the same space as the piano. During the guitar solo a couple of piano notes sound like they're part of the guitar solo.

TennesseeVic,

Thanks so much for your compliments! Glad you like the piano!

The guitar used in this demo was a sampled acoustic archtop guitar, which really has a dated sound going back to the 1930's. It is much more common to hear electric archtop jazz guitars used in this context. There are both electric and acoustic archtop jazz guitars in the Bardstown "Vintage Jazz Guitars and Tenor Banjos" collection. Personally I like the sound of acoustic archtop jazz guitars for many playing applications, even though they are seldom heard in this type of playing context these days. Here is a link to a demo featuring this same sampled acoustic archtop jazz guitar, but in a slightly different context.

Hi TennesseeVic,

All of my scoring is done in real time. When several takes are in force, there is a chance that that while the piano is accomodating the Guitar solo, the same notes could be played based on a spontaneous moment. In all midi creations that are played in real time and from one artist, the chances of duplicate phrases occuring are greater than if another artist were to lay down the other midi tracks.

Thanks for the listen and thank Bardstownaudio.com (Kip McGinnis) for his great samples.

BTW, if you get a chance, give a listen to
"How High The Moon" over here...

Nifty. This sounds more together than the other demo.

I understand about the guitar. That's what they used in the old big bands probably. The sound these days seems to be more an intimate sound, electrically amplified to be audible.

Btw, I looked up Bardstown in mapquest. Right in the middle of the bluegrass state. How's your sample cd of mandolins and dobros coming along? Bill Monroe rules!

TennesseeVic,

I just got off of the phone with Alan and he is recording a track for this same tune with one of the electric archtop jazz guitars from this same "Vintage Jazz Guitars and Tenor Banjos" collection. We'll probably have it up later this afternoon. When it's up, I'll jump on this board and post a link.

Bill Monroe does rule, and so does Merle Travis!

If any of you guys are wondering about the Bardstown Bosendorfer Imperial Grand Model 290 , I have it and it's fantastic. The customer service is even better.

Kip is top notch. He called me direct after I emailed him that I had some difficulty with the SFD function in the new Kontakt update. I didn't ask him in the email to call me....I just send it and 15 minutes later it's the developer on the phone helping me sort out a Kontakt problem :!: :!: You will not regret buying this product.

No, I don't work for Kip but I wish I did.
