Out of those, I've owned Albino, and now own Gladiator 2. Both are great, but I like the work-flow of Gladiator more, and the sound is quite nice. The presets, demos, etc. really do Gladiator a disservice. They're drenched in FX (though its FX are good,) they're all tranced up, and don't really show the versatility of the synth. The interface really couldn't make more sense. I was up and running with it in seconds. Albino is fairly easy to operate as well, has some great waveforms, the filters are silky, and the arpeggiator is nice. (I prefer the arp on Gladiator a bit though, and between it and the step-LFO, you can make some very complex rhythmic sounds.)

If you want something really flexible though, I'd recommend checking out KarmaFX Synth Modular. It's really a great combination of fully modular synthesis with easy to use, clean, and highly informative UI. I have a background in analog modulars, so there were a few things I had to get used to in it, but it's really quite easy after a short time. Just pick apart a preset to get the basic signal flow down, or check out one of the tutorials in the manual. The sound quality is top-notch, and you can do just about anything you could think of in it. The dev is friendly, and dedicated to keeping it up to date and maintained as well. If you're going for your last synth and you want it to cover a lot of ground with high quality of sound, and a lot of flexibility, I don't think anything else comes close. (at least nothing I've seen suggested in this thread yet) My second choice would be Gladiator. I'm sure Zebra's great, I hear plenty of praise for it, but I've not used it myself.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I've decided to go with Zebra. I'll should get it next month. I think the sound, the presets and the support are all top-notch. The only bad thing for me was the interface but now I have no problem with it, I even like it.

With Zebra and Alchemy I'll be good for some time.

Surge was my 2nd choice. I think it's a superb synth, under-apreciated.

Well, my congratulations with Zebra. It's amazing synth with nice ui (all the big squares) and has it's own sound character.

Although it doesn't sound analogue

(or i couldn't get it sound this way), like Surge or Sylenth1.

Also, have you tried Sylenth1?
Why it's not in poll?

Cos comparing those synths in the pool, Sylenth1 is too common VA with low capabilities. It also has only 5 waveforms, what is too small amount for creating a new sounds within just an oscillator section.

while zebra2 is the hammer, as well as albino3 and gladiator are, i wonder why nobody misses audjoo helix in that contest? helix belongs here to the highest degree, it's the only real contender to zebra2, imo ... just my throw-in though ...

HELP! NOOB Alert

I have been saving up for months. I was reading through this thread and no one mentioned which of these can best make jupiter 8 type sounds. I played arturia's demo and fell in love but it kicks my cpu in the ass. If none of these can create Jupiter "type sounds" which one sounds most analog?

I was always thought sylenth1 was a good replacement for all those old roland synths. While not an emulation of anything, it is, to me, the most 'analog' sounding VA.

I love Sylenth, but out of what's currently available I'd go with the Korg Mono/Poly for most "Analog". Can't wait for the Synth Squad though. Maybe I'll sell the Korg stuff once I get my hands on the Synth Quad so I can get rid of that dongle.
