while zebra2 is the hammer, as well as albino3 and gladiator are, i wonder why nobody misses audjoo helix in that contest? helix belongs here to the highest degree, it's the only real contender to zebra2, imo ... just my throw-in though ...

I don't know what happened to Helix. I was mildly interested in it during it's beta phase, but the UI was a little tough to swallow and the presets weren't my cup of tea. Then I checked out the release and the new UI was much improved (though not my favorite) but there was this glorious sound with amazing presets and why doesn't it effect my CPU? Did I make some deal with the devil when I agreed to the license terms?

I don't understand why the KVR community decided to ignore it as soon as the developer released it when it was such a darling for so long. Also to all those "No Mac version " people, It's Mac compatible!

Maybe Audjoo needs to do some sort of group buy to build hype... dress like a gorilla or hire some crazy spinning sign guys to point people towards it. I'm no marketing guy but it clearly is being ignored for no good reason.

i think Sylenth is very good in sounding like what people imagine analogue should sound like.

Not sure why Helix gets no love. the cpu hit/soundquality ratio is unbeaten at the moment.

HELP! NOOB Alert

I have been saving up for months. I was reading through this thread and no one mentioned which of these can best make jupiter 8 type sounds. I played arturia's demo and fell in love but it kicks my cpu in the ass. If none of these can create Jupiter "type sounds" which one sounds most analog?

Ignored may be a little strong. I remember quite a fuss over Broks presets thread showing off the sounds he did for commercial version of Helix, lots and lots of praise (and rightly so!).

But then what happened, hmmm, was that before the whole Omnisphere explosion?, can't remember the timings now. Helix should be considered right up there with those for sure.

The presets are light on dance-trance sounds because 1) that's the genre I despise the most and 2) they're too easy to make.

One tip for Poly. You can change the crazy modulation source wheels to drop-down boxes. It's not quite as interesting, but it's a lot easier to see where you're routing things.

It is not just features. Synth Squad is all about sonic quality and emulation of the sort of chaotic variability you get with analogue gear. That said, by the time you look at all 3 of the synths included (plus the combo Fusor), it covers quite a lot of sonic territory as well.

Turn of the effects in Sylenth and compare the output to some of the audio demos on the synth squad site (the effects free ones). No comparison IMO

Yep. FXpansion's Synth Squad will introduce a new level of "chaotic variability", as you say.

As I mentioned to Angus privately, Cypher, for example, is able to make some of my favourite sounds I get in Tassman4. However, in Tassman these sounds require huge modular patches. Cypher does them with a few knobs only.

If anyone is into 'filthy' (what a word can't believe I just used it) electro basses and leads that feel like could bite in the ass with its electric current, this is the synth. There, I said it, it's pure analog 'filth', people!
