Logic 8 - system overload errors

Hmmm, the only time so far i've had that message is on the first play when I load a project up. After that everything runs smoothly, yet to max it out! (using a 2.33 duel core Macbook Pro, think it has 2gbs of RAM!)

unfortunately Logic crashes, no more playback. I can move windows and close it but play is frozen etc. I'll try moving the start of the project and doing to start-stop-start fix to see if it helps

hmm.. actually, maybe just the one project. I thought it happened in two other ones as well but I can't replicate it at the moment.

I haven't any of these errors on a Mac mini with Logic Express 8.

and as far as the recent issue are we talking core audio -10011 error? or a different combo error?

yup, I messed around with it the whole of saturday. I was pleasantly surprised is some areas, compared to the SL2 I used to own.. mixer en channel settings were less annoying than what I remembered (but more about that later), audio editing is very good of course, shortcuts are easier to work with imo, I like the inline midi editing as I often want to edit midi against audio clips, I quite liked the loop based composing thingie, I love the midi device stuff.. my mate brought two sound modules and using those midi interfaces or whatever it's called again is very cool (Logic can do similar things in the environment but I've always had problems with the ones I found online and I can't be bothered making one myself), I still like the drum editor. I know Logic has the hyper editor and you can use it to build a conventional drum editor but the Cubase and Sonar way makes a lot more sense and it's easier to use..

it didn't crash on me but -and here we come to the problem- cpu spikes all over the place, some to do with the gui, some obviously because of the audio engine in osx. Cpu use was -to put it the least negative- soso to hmm not very good really. Even though the mixer is a big improvement (dragable inserts etc) I eventually still got pissed off by the limitations inrouting and the weird channel behaviour. It just doesn't make sense you click on a track and get the midi settings and damn thing keeps changing to exactly the thing you don't want it to change to.. a lot of unnecessary clicks there and it's just bloody annoying. I guess you could teach yourself a different way of mixing but on one 20inch screen with limited real estate sometimes you just want the channel setting and the arrange view and not the whole damn mixer at the bottom but as it stands the channel window is useless.

oh and.. I'm not too impressed with the plugins. Definitely not in the same league as Logic's and they all look dull and ugly too. It's not that important but still, would be nice to have some better plugins for that kind of money. I still don't like the channel eq for some reason. I don't know what it is, I just don't like it.

it's been suggested to me before that this could indicate a corrupt project or autoload:(

it's a shame because it's my first track in L8 and I'm quite happy with it so far. I'll try and export (recreate) it to a new track and hopefully whatever is causing the error doesn't get copied over too.

they're describing the exact same problems. And funny enough my external drive is a Lacie. There's some tips there that might be helpful. Thanks for the link

Native inst. komplete 5
superior drummer 2
kore 2 hardware controller
m audio fastrack ultra
various other third party AU plug-ins for logic

When ever I run NI with superior drummer...
even with buffer to max
repaired permissions
wireless ntwk off
no runaway application memory usage

still...
song will barely playback...
coreaudio error system cannot process in time yadda yadda

got a major project due and cannot even finish a song.
HELP!

Do you have effects on any channels? Are you using the busses for effect or running them directly on the channel? Also, are both cores getting maxed out, or is one being barely used?
