Hey, I just tried KarmaFX and this is a VERY NICE synth (modular). I'm not sure about Zebra now. I really like it and now I think the interface is cool, but the sound of KarmaFX is really, really good and it's half the price of Zebra...

Though decision.

I really like the presets you've made in Zebra and always consider what you're saying but I don't understand why you're saying this. Do you think the sound of KarmaFX is bad? If you do, can you tell me what you dislike.

And I'll be honnest, I try the synth on crappy speakers with really low volume, maybe I didn't hear well but from what I've heard the sound was very good.

KarmaFX does sound very good. I'd try it under better conditions, but you really don't have anything to worry about. It's an excellent synth. I would highly recommend it. It's quite easy to use, and has an excellent manual. The developer is also very quick to respond both with email and in the forums.

I don't get the wink. No, I did't love the demo. If the presets that ship with your demo clip the output of the track they're in (and even their own output indicator) then that's what I call a fail.

You bothered with the presets in TimewARP? But-but-but it's all about the virtual cable madness: a beardy geek-dream come true! Next you'll say Robert Smith sucks because of his spider-head hair-style and penchant for baggy sweaters!

Call me crazy, but when I first demo a synth the thing I do is peruse the presets. Sometimes I'm feeling tweaky, but a lot of times I only have an hour or so to jam so I need to get to business. Part of what I feel I'm paying for is sound design. When I'm trying to get a feel for the general personality of a synth and it's presets are peaking their own meter and distorting Live, I have to think, what the hell? Yeah, I could put a brick wall limiter after it, but usually at that point I yell "fail." and move on. Too much good competition. I had another look at Poly-ana's presets that I mentioned and I noticed that although a lot of them are super hot, they only really distort if you play a bunch of notes at one time, and generally sound really good. Frankly for that type of vintage tone my vote goes to Poly-ana.

Also, Robert Smith? Not all that into him. Whiney sort. Here's some video I took while remodeling his house:
