Looking back through some recent posts, Squids and the gang are working hard on a lot of updates to their products. :) Here's what I've found so far (any transcription mistakes are mine, and I've added the words in violet for clarification):

Ocean Way Drums Player app:

Ocean Way Drums:
-- a free update (for OWD Gold and Platinum?) that provides additional samples (Chinas, Splashes and extra kick drums) as well as GM Maps and new Multis. That's the Version 1.1 update and it IS available by contacting support (at) sonicreality (dot) com - email your serial number so we can verify it. An official announcement will be made later this week with information on how to get it automatically using your serial number.
-- the new (as at 02 March) download purchases come with the 1.1 update already in so you don't have to run the update. Just previous Gold and Platinum users.

Infinite Player app:
-- we're going to do a bunch of updates after Kontakt 3 Player is released (free update btw for Infinite Player users),
-- when we do that we'll also add some other enhancements so request away!

IP Drum Master kits:
-- the GM kits are very likely to have round robin eventually,
-- also a round robin non-extended I-Map is planned,
-- like Ocean Way Drums, they too will be updated to have V-Drum maps that round robin,
-- these are just preset updates actually so both that AND extra mixes will be FREE updates over time,
-- a free update set of patches for all of the Drum Masters and Studio ProFiles Grooves with grooves mapped to the upper part of the keyboard above the kit ("Performance Groove Maps"),
-- subsets of grooves that go together mapped to C6 and above chromatically for up to 2 octaves,
-- and then there are multis that combine the grooves with the kit so they can be played at the same time live,
-- for a future free update we are adding to the list to have Attack/Release for the directs and the overheads too. (at the moment we just put it there to tailor the rooms),
-- multi piece kits (currently all loading in omni) - assigned to MIDI channel 01,

Konstruction kits:
-- we're adding a free patch update that does interchangeable sections of Konstruction sets in multis which are really cool,
-- and some fancy control of each loop (available for the Player through scripts).
-- some other tricks coming such as convenient individual slice maps,
-- We put together a structure where groups of instruments are separated by octave and given their own instrument in a multi so you can easily mix and match groups of instrument loops from DIFFERENT Konstruction kits. ... A free update to the people that got it in the group buy.

Sonik Kapsules:
-- we're doing an update that gives you more control of the sound (a GUI script with specific knobs and parameters); that's a free update,
-- we might even go through it and add some patches too...

Squids,

Please, please, please - when you issue these updates can you issue just the patches not the full libraries wherever possible. I realise that will make it a little more work to manage but it will save you a ton of bandwidth and download time. And save us download time, broadband traffic fees and installation time and hassles.

So, taking as an example, Danny Gottlieb ST Drum Kit (the current product), you would have these two:
  • Danny Gottlieb ST Drum Kit v1.1
(complete library and patch updates, for new buyers or for anyone who wants it all))
Danny Gottlieb ST Drum Kit v1.1 update
    (the patches only)

One thing that's great about the Infinite Player Sound Installer is that you can grab just the patches in an zipped update, drag it onto the installer and everything goes in its right place. So no worries. I don't think there will be many (if any) cases where you'll have to download large sample updates. Just patches mainly.

We're working on many of those but not ALL of those will be in the next update. We're doing it in waves. Basically, the FIRST update is one that we want to do just for the initial functionality of things like grooves and kits working together in products like Drum Masters and other Studio ProFiles titles. Konstruction Paks were only available as mapped rex collections for the last Infinite Studio Group Buy however they are not available anymore until the REAL release of Konstruction - the plug-in loop workstation (which is different than the paks) and when we release that it will have all KINDS of features and enhanced ways of working with the loops. Those features will be updated scripts/patches working with the same rexes you have from the Konstruction Paks as well as with the Rexes of the main workstation (which are different) and despite the fact we thought that the product was going to be released in February just after NAMM we are delaying it just a little bit (early Q2) just so it hits the nail on the head for what we were after.

That said, all of those Konstruction Pak titles and even MORE are being released starting this coming week and weeks following as new R.A.W. Style Paks (as well as singularly Rex, Apple Loops or Wave paks). If you have a Konstruction Pak you essentially HAVE the Rex pak too because it is in there. If you wanted the R.A.W. version of the same title you got (so you could have the Apple Loops and Acidized Waves of those same loops) then it is a cheap $15 crossgrade per title if you do - done through Allen when they are available. The new titles coming are Chi Town Hip Hop (sort of a Kanye West Chicago style hip hop), Old Skool Hip Hop (80's, Run DMC style etc.), Trance (as opposed to Tarnce - but this is different than just trance, it's more trance and electronica - four to the floor pulsing synths etc.) and there's also a Pop Rock construction kit-style one coming as well... and yes those will also eventually make it as Konstruction Paks too when the updates happen there.

The Kapsules just need their instrument scripts and skins applied and those are an easy update that should happen after we update Drum Masters and the Studio ProFiles multitrack style series (Classic Rock, RingBeats, Bonzo etc.).

After this first phase for Drum Masters we'll be collecting requests for features, user feedback and implenting many things already planned (like V-Drum maps or maybe even a whole flexible mapping system etc). The round robin stuff will be in that second or third update phase because it's a lot of internal mapping surgery unless we can figure out a way to do a sort of round robin randomization at the script level which might be possible and if so it would open up a lot of doors... and be able to happen a lot faster. You gotta remember, between thousands of multi-channel drum HITS and even more thousands of multi-track rex SLICES that all have to be grouped in certain ways in Kontakt to even stay in sync this is not always the easiest product to update! It all depends on how you are able to achieve the result you're after.

In any case, thanks Dark Star for putting useful threads like this together! We'll keep you all posted on news.

Thanks for having this update. It's really good to know.

For the record, I know that some others in the Infinite Kit group buys in Dec 2008 and Jan 2009 have expressed their desire to not have to re-download kits once you have the round robin and V-Drums mapping available, but I personally will be happy to have these kits any way they come. It's no big deal to me to re-download them if that is what is best. I'd prefer you guys didn't fret over things like that when you're working on the updates.

agreeing with eDrummist - round-robin on the GM for IP sets would be worthy of a re-download any day. Bring it on!

And here I was getting pretty good with IMAP but I suppose sticks to "skins" will be a lot better (relative to my rustiness in actually having played regularly). Sorry for the derailment :)

Somewhat on-topic feature request - once DarkStar's mapping tool is complete, distribute it :)

Squids,

Now that things have quietened down a bit, is there any news that you can give us on these updates?

There are new kit and groove scripts that we almost have finished that offer some really cool features. For the kits you can do selectable round robin and there's the ability to map for any e-Drum kit plus more. For the grooves you can actually listen to multiple groove performance maps to play along side the keyboard and some customization is now possible. Plus a few more surprises. As far as ETA, it depends. First we have to complete the scripts which were initially being made while we're doing the Ken Scott Collection (which is delayed). But, in the meantime we might be able to apply those scripts to Drum Masters next month and release the update by the end of the month as long as we don't run into any issues... there are new factors involved such as the release of Kontakt 3.5 Player in the next week or so (that's free for you guys too from NI). So there might be some testing necessary and tweaking before it is officially released. That said, we could assemble a beta team of users who are just anxious and curious to try out the new stuff before everyone else gets it. Let me know (you can post right into this thread) if anyone who owns at least the Infinite Player and a multitrack Drum Masters Kit and Groove set wants to be part of that beta team.
