Okay, here's my setup:

Acer Aspire 5672WLMi
- Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache)
- 2GB DDR2 dual channel memory
- ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB
- 160GB 5400 RPM SATA hard drive
- Windows XP SP3 (updated)
- E-MU 0404 USB 2.0 sound module w/ most recent driver (2/2008)
- Cakewalk Home Studio 2004

I'm still using this old version of Home Studio because Sonar Home Studio 7 won't run on this computer. (I've taken this up with Cakewalk. Hope to hear back from them soon.) My hope was that SHS7 would allow me to use some of my newer Linplug synths.

Alas, I've still got my old Home Studio software for now, and for whatever reason, Albino 3 and RM IV crash the program. I dial up either one, and boom, Cakewalk dies. No blue screen, but it's bad enough, really.

This does not happen with my older Linplug synths. Albino 1, RM 3, CronoX 2, FreeAlpha and CM-505 all work fine. Still, I'd really like to use some of the stuff I've paid for here, and I'm hesitant to upgrade CronoX and DaOrgan until I know they won't crash, too.

Any ideas?

Just FYI: I've managed to get SHS7 working on Vista, and Albino 3 working in that. So there's that. Still not sure why these things aren't working in XP, though...

have you tried the same setup in Reaper to see if it is a LinPlug issue or CW's?

Well, the point is to get these synths working in a sequencer I've already purchased, so as not to blow any more cash if I don't have to.

And I've gotten SHS7 and Albino3 working together on the Compaq, which runs Vista, but not on the Acer, which runs XP and is currently my primary DAW. Perhaps if I get SHS7 working on the Acer, this will all sort itself out...

Update: Got SHS7 running on the Acer. Albino 3 loads properly into that. Having a MIDI controller problem now, but nothing to do with Linplug.

Carry on, then.
