Here's a blurb from a friend of mine, freshly posted on GS:
FWIW I picked the real SSL 3 times out of 3, but that real SSL is waaay out of my price league right now, so glue it is!
okay so i did a quick and dirty test against an SSL buss compressor (the one that you can get for the SSL Mynx).
i tried to get the sound as close as possible and the levels as close as possible without being uber anal..
i'm sure someone somewhere will critique my testing methods, but i tried to use my ears more than anything..
I won't say which is which, but let's see what people like the most and whether or not they think theres a several thousand dollar difference.

A is the hardware Im sure its how the attack and release act
B is The Glue which is more spongy and less punch
Ive tried to get The Glue to punch like the SSL Duende Mix Buss compressor but it falls short.I got much closer woth the Oxford Dynamics on the powercore.
If I wanted to be Native only then the glue is very good indeed but for me its not up there with the big boys yet.

@"Force to buy now"/"now or never"-guys
It's not like it'd be now 99$ and after 249$. It's only like 20$ more if you buy it later ... 20$!
You can't tell me you're forced to anything because of 20 lousy dollars.

For 20 bucks for something that the dev never sees, only the "state", it sure is much.
Also PayPal and ShareIt are a ripoff if it comes to exchange rates. They charge like 3 bucks extra, just for doing a calculation.
Maybe you have the money and get like 5 grand a month, I sure as hell don't and be happy to even get >600Euro a month, from which I have to pay my bills and live off something.
So yeah, "20 lousy dollars" do add up to the equation. Unless there'd be somebody to "sponsor" this thing. Then I don't need to care either.

Actually did some testing between Mixpressor2 (which I still think is the best native compressor) and Glue and ended up liking the lower range better on the psp compressor. What I like about the Mixpressor is that you can push it really hard without getting that distortion you get in the Glue. Guess I'll pass on this one...

Awesome! That's the way I like my demos. I honestly think twice if there's an installer. It just seems more clean to use a dll for a demo. I can't wait to put this thing through it's paces.andy_cytomic wrote:The public beta is launched.
Wow that's lots of posts. Ok I've been flat out getting this thing together, it's bare bones, no installer, no docs, just the business, if you have a non ppc cpu you need sse2 minimum to run it.
...
Man! Andy, you sure have a following here. I bet you didn't expect this. I've never seen anything like this. The mood here is the same as those lines of people waiting days for their favorite film to open; like when they redid the starwars films. This is the first plugin I've seen with a cult following, and it hasn't even been officially released yet. How did you do it?
