Ok, here is the small Audio file of 909 Kick:
FabFilter Pro C vs Glue:
FabvsGlue.mp3 - 0.35MB
First playing Fab, then Glue.
I see difference in attack only + tone

i think on single elements it may not work its magic

Seetings was just a little bit different. Cos every compressor has his own character. I just tried to make them sound the same, if possible. Fixed attack of Glue is not actually good thing. IMO. Otherwise, Glue is cool!sureno wrote:yeah there is a difference BUT... not very noticeable imo are the settings the same?Igro wrote:Ok, here is the small Audio file of 909 Kick:

I use a s*itty set of PC Line speakers, with the 'woofer' on full bass, in order to find kick drums, good enough to use in my productions. I have discovered on many occasions, how 'pro' CDs neglect the FACT that people listen to music in their cars and on s*itty speakers like this. Therefore, the Kicks, will quite often seem to punch in the wrong part of the spectrum, thus causing a terribly distorted bottom end etc. I find that problem with many Sample Library kits as well. Especially 808/909 hitz!Igro wrote:Ok, here is the small Audio file of 909 Kick:

I own both Fab and my soon to be FULL (beta) of The Glue.
The Glue wins hands down in your experiment. What was unusable to my ears/speakers, through Pro C, has now been transformed (in a transparent way), to something very good indeed! Well done! What settings did you use by the way? I want them . . . big time
Brilliant! The Glue was worth all the waiting for.
Thanks . . .

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

im not good with technical terms but it sounded like it had longer release as the kick on a whole sound a fraction longer than the Pro - C, i too have the Pro C and it is certainly a great plug but so is Glue, they sure do have different character but very subtle

Here's a little test with three compressors:
- Sonnox Dynamics
- My SSL compressor with THAT2181 VCAs and vintage 5532/5534 op amps
- The Glue
One file, three different sources (room drums, electronica mix, drumloop), first take is unprocessed, the last three are the three compressors, not necessarily in the order presented above. I've added a copy of "The Glue" which doesn't do any processing after the other two files just to add the noise. Processing was done at 192khz, converters Lynx Aurora.

Here's a second, much more extreme example (lowest possible threshold, matched with a sinewave), same order of compressors:

Just a question - Are you setting the same values for all comps? If yes, then it's not right. Try to get the same volume for all samples.living sounds wrote:Here's a second, much more extreme example (lowest possible threshold, matched with a sinewave), same order of compressors:

Also: this test - what is what?

Yes, same values. Which incidentally is the closest you can get by ear as well with these extreme settings.Igro wrote:Just a question - Are you setting the same values for all comps? What do you think? I won't post results right after the blind test, will I?

demoed it, what I can say so far is that it sounds really good on a drum-bus. REALLY good!!
