Nice, any chance of doing a Glue V another compressor for comparison basis?
Thanks, well the unprocessed version is there so you can run it through any compressor if you like.

Thank you for these examples lads. Makes compairing so much better.

If possible can you stick them up on this thread:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 37#3500737

Have a look at it and see how Ive set it up to compare them. So for example:

The Glue V SSL Compressor - giving two seperate audio files which where used on the same material, i.e. vocals.

That way everyone can hear the comparisons on that thread instead of having to go through multiple pages on this thread :)

If you have a look at this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 37#3500737

You will see what I mean. Im setting up a thread so its easy for people to browse through compressors and see what they are like against others.

So for example, using the same recorded source you would use the glue compressor, and then test it against another compressor with similar settings, and provide two different audio takes. That way its easy to compair them side by side. :)

- Sonnox Dynamics
- My SSL compressor with THAT2181 VCAs and vintage 5532/5534 op amps
- The Glue

One file, three different sources (room drums, electronica mix, drumloop), first take is unprocessed, the last three are the three compressors, not necessarily in the order presented above. I've added a copy of "The Glue" which doesn't do any processing after the other two files just to add the noise. Processing was done at 192khz, converters Lynx Aurora.

Enjoy!
Do me a favour mate, man you stick them up on this thread individualy so its easier to pair them up. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 37#3500737

For example, using the same recorded source:

Sonnox V The Glue (drums)
Sonnox V SSL (drums)
The Glue V SSL (drums)
The Glue V SSL (Electronic mix)
Sonnox V The Glue (Electronic mix)
Sonnox V SSL (Electronic mix)

So all you need is 6 different recorded audio files.

That would be much appreciated :)

You can split my files up if you like!

I'll have a go when im not at work or not sleeping after night shift. May take a while lol.

Cheers for the audio file though. Whats the order of the comps anyway?

Yay! Anyone can explain the range knob?

OK. Here you go!

Rocket vs Glue. 909 kick only:
RocketVsGlue.mp3 - 0.35MB
First playing Rocket, then Glue.

Almost NO differents.
Rocket has microscopically sharper transient.

Glue now in my TOP 4 compressor.( Fab C pro, Rocket, SV-315, Glue)

Same here! Does it decide the db range of the shape?

Sorry guys. Almost NO differents. Rocket has cleaner transient.
Thank you for that :)

i did a test too, comparing the Glue, the Waves SSL compressor & Sonalksis SV-315.
here is the link containing the zip file with all wavs.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/bhf06x

it is a short clip with various loops (apple loops mostly) that i made quickly, just to do the test.
All compressors have the same and in some cases similar settings.

i must say that i liked Waves SSL compressor results a bit more than the others. But my room is not perfect, so i cannot compare 100%.
look forward to what you think. :)

Here is an addition to the processed samples (of living sounds's dry ones), a compressor I think is much better than any SSL: API 525. Great with any setting, has a huge range, and extreme settings in it mean -extreme-.
@ Andy: better use this one as a reference for your next model ;).

me 3 :?

I think the beta crashes my PC (using Reaper). I've had three hard crashes (computer instantly reboots) while the plugin was loaded, after 10-30 minutes or so. I cannot be sure, but evidence strongly suggests it right now.

I think I can one up that - for extremely over the top compression listen to my heavily customized dual 1176:

It sets the maximum amount of gain reduction that will actually take place. So if I understand it correctly Full would be the full range of gain reduction, and 10db will set the maximum amount of gain reduction that can take place at 10db. So Full would get you more compression, whereas lesser settings would yield less reduction.
