Feedback on Session Load

Hi Folks.

One thing confuses me each time... I never exactly know when a session/subsession has loaded completely, ready to play...

My test machine is fairly slow and needs some time to load even simpler sessions...

Is there any undoubted indication that a session has finished loading?

I also noticed that while a session is loading any midi input seems to be muted. No chance to cancel a session lasting very long to load...

I guess I've just overseen something, but maybe not too, not sure here...

Good question, TI. My sessions are simple, so when my rack appears onscreen, all loading is finished. But it seems there's always a question left in the mind.

There seems no way to abort a loading that has been started in error. The loading-progress screens often provide the chance to abort the loading of a big plug-in like a sampled piano. That makes it finish much quicker. But it does not actually stop the session, which merely loads an empty sampler.

It's a gerenal question... since we have the great option to also show the plugins gui, loading a session can take even much more time than before...

I am really not complaining about catabile features or abilities here... you all know I am a very big fan of this softare... it's just about a clear feedback when a session has loaded completely.

Ok, there is another point behind this question, but I have to fight this one with Brad in the dark... LOL :D

Hi

I have investigated a bit more. I think session change behaviour needs at least an additional option...

If one clicks on the button in a session list etnry line, session load starts instantly, when a change needs a subsession only the transition is really instant.

When you do the same via an external program change, behaviour is different. At first a popup appears. Session load seems to start when the popup vanishes... so even subsession changes get a delay! When loading has finished the popup appears again!...

I observed the same behaviour with the popup sequence when using the prev/next session buttons in the session list.

My suggestion here is at least an option to remove the delaying popups during load on external program changes...

... to close this thread proper I'll just want to note that this option is now included for a while... to be found in Options - Sessionlist - "use delayed session loading..."
