Both are natural sounding so this will be a really good test to see how natural sounding the Glue is.

Not much. Around 300-500 euros, mostly depending on the knobs, metering and case you choose. The innards are all around 200 or less. I would recommend getting some rather heavy duty switches/knobs though. You'll otherwise regret it later if you end up using the thing for years.haudegen wrote:how much does the "high-end" version of the self made SSL cost?

Speaking of which, and in case I've overread that. What do you think of "The Glue", bmanic. Does it come close to the original hardware?
What's your experience with it so far?

Yes but i'm sure they can be similar enough to make a comparison. This would be the best comparison by far. Would be good to hear them on different applicants like drums, vocals and synth lines.bduffy wrote:ooh! Coming right up. Has anyone noticed that when you really push the compressor to its limits you begin to hear the digital phase coming in whereby it clicks badly compared to other compressors?

Hey guys,
I just did a few little tests with The Glue against FabFilter Pro-C.
For me, Pro-C beat The Glue fairly easily. Pro-C retained more punch and clarity for the same amount of compression.
Yes, I know it's more expensive, but not unaffordable.
It took a little while to match, but if anyone would like to try it out, feel free:

I wonder: wouldn't a full mix be a good comparison too? Haven't heard too much of that yet...
I'm heading out right now but I can upload something tomorrow. Or later tonight if I don't get too drunk.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I just tested Pro-C against PSP's MixPressor2 (part of MixPack 2)... wow man, I really like it too!
Now, I know that MixPack2 is double the price of The Glue, but don't forget you also get a few other plugins. - MixSaturator2 sounds really nice on first inspection too!
I also just tried out Vienna Symphonic's Vienna Compressor.. compared to Pro-C it's very ordinary.

Yes it would also be good. The more the better so we can hear the differences on different applicants.bduffy wrote:I'll do my best!Jay-Producer wrote:Yes but i'm sure they can be similar enough to make a comparison.
