well those who know me aren't really surprised when I try different things, after my noisy freak thing I thought no better opposite than to pick up my acoustic guitar. this might be a lead balloon here but for those who can stomach it I kind of lost my left ear doing that noise thing so a bit of a critique would be appreciated before I try a final refinement. Jasmine joins me on vocals. thanks jas!!
I played all the parts through in pretty well one pass so theres a few mis-steps but that never bothers me.

Really pretty work, wavephonic. Jasmines voice seems to have too much low end in the recording, you might want to trim it. I hear a few slips, but that only gives it character. I don't mind when human music is, well, human. Good work.
I have had a project similar to this for the last 10 years (but it doesn't sound nearly this good, imo). It's a good thing to keep the balance in your art.

right on man thanks, will roll it off some.

the noise to water project is considerably cooler than the song I have here, ...especially liked the song "You" nice sound on the acoustic work and a great vocal also

nice to go on guitar sometimes, I love that too, just i don't have a good set up for recording right now,

BTW I like this song, <grin>, I agree with Jazzy about the female vocals with too low end and I would also use strings for the pads, and 2 or 3 wrong pitch notes I would fix

Woow ! very good, I was expecting a rough sketch but this is already well-refined
Well done

Cheers

I tried scooping out the bass a touch maybe not enough, fair comments man thanks.
I would need another take on the vocal, not sure its gunna happen, darn,
appreciate the listen

its still a bit rough around the gills in areas, but..
cool you enjoyed as presented, thanks

Nice mid-tempo, a solid number with good guitar leads. (the sound's crystal clear)
A 'spacious' mix. The succession of vocals works good for me
I'm trying to imagine this song with a soft organ in the end (the last minute or so...) playing some not-invasive melody. :?
Just to let it grow a little more dense while preparing the end

Cheers

I'll have to try that Laguna thanks, I know just where to introduce it to.

Nice. Good song, good playing. If you can, listen to it a week and then re-record the vocals. Maybe cut the low end a little to open it up and add a touch of delay here and there.

It's not that the vocals are bad it just has that first take sound. I'm trying to get away from that by doing a scratch track and then practice a day or two before I commit.

Wait until you hear the one I'm working on now. Without being even close musically they kinda have the same sort of feel. It's called "Circus Life". Maybe I can get it up this weekend.

Thanks. I enjoyed that. :)

thanks tomg, I completely agree. this was something a little out of my element and I just wanted to give it a try, it was fun to play and I was willing to just get some mix ideas and let it ride.
But I've never had such a reaction to something I've done before (on another site) telling me this song is "all that" and must be redone (personally its a bit washy pop for me)...normally I would never do this, but for jasmines sake I'm going to retool and redoo.
I'll listen to your track when you get it up.

Lovely track wavephonic. Not much to add to the critique, the sound is nice on my earbuds but the vocals could sit in the mix a little better perhaps.
Jasmine's vocals remind me of the woman of Cranes. I like it!

Lovely tune Ed and Jas! Congrats to both of you.
I like the sound of it. Acoustic, bass and drums gel very well together.
I also like very much what you did with the two vocal lines (I'm talking about the melodies).

Jasmines voice has a very sweet timbre. Yours is not bad either :hihi: . You also seem more confident than she (hope it's not autotuned :smack:  ) when you sing but I repeat she has a lovely timbre.

Hmm, what else? Yeah, the mix. The only flaw is how Jasmines vocals sit in the mix. They seem a bit muffled or bass heavy and the way the two vocal tracks are now processed seems different resulting in a kind of muddy sound here and there. I know it's difficult to make them similar enough but keep a good separation at the same time. That's all I spotted.

Overall it's a ... :tu:

ah thanks, cool you were into it, ya her vocal is a bit tricky for me, I wish she could be here in my studio so I could make adjustments on the fly instead of afterwards. collabing over the net can be a gamble sometimes. but I'm bent on making it better.
thanks again

lmao...hey hows the man, na I don't have auto tune, I just sang it 4,893 times and found a half decent take. somehow jas got me to sing, thats more scary than anything I do musically, even after repeated alcohol inducements.
the good news is shes going to do another take this weekend so I got her to make a couple adjustments on her eq.
hopefully I can get this outta my hair after that, but this has been different.
good to hear from ya
