Augustus Loop in Logic 7, 'Touch' automation not working?...

I download the demo of Augustus Loop (its awsome BTW).
I'm still using Logic 7 on a Mac Pro quad 2.66 running OS 10.4.11.

When using the automation in 'touch' mode. Nothing moves, nothing happens when I'm moving the sliders or moving anything on the pluggin. Normally this would be recoded in the 'Hyper Draw'. I usually like to work that way.

Also when using the automation in 'Read' mode, using the Hyper Draw to adjust the 'Delay Time' slider it jumps from 0 seconds to 28 seconds when moving the HD even in the smallest of increments. Thats way too big a jump if your just trying to automate from 1 to say 4 seconds of delay time.

Is this only happening in Logic 7? Is it also happening to anyone using Logic 8?

I love this pluggin, but I cant use it the way I want unless this is fixed :(

Thanks.

This happens in Logic 8, too, unfortunately. I'll have to look into it.

In the meantime, if you switch the AU editor's view to 'Controls' (i.e. Logic's default plug-in UI), then dragging the sliders works fine with automation.

The 'Delay Time' parameter is a tricky one, because it has such a huge range. The best way to automate it is via the Delay Slider, but that has no corresponding parameter for Logic to automate. You can automate it via MIDI CC (or OSC!) though.

Thanks for your fast reply.

How would I go about automating the delay time values in smaller increments using the midi cc, in Logic ?

I really think this is a great pluggin. If there's a way I can get it to work, the way I need it to, I would certainly purchase it.

Thanks. :)

To be honest, I don't know - I'm no Logic expert. I could tell you how to do it in Ableton Live ;)

You need to set up a MIDI track, I suppose, and somehow route its output to Augustus Loop. If Logic won't do that directly, you could use the IAC bus to route it out of Logic and back in. Then you need to send CC #12.

An alternative to all this would be to enable Host Sync and then automate the Beats parameter.

The automation recording is fixed in Augustus Loop v2.0.2, just released.

Nice work. As a logic user I'm really happy with this update.
So I finally purchased and registered my copy last night.
I really love this one.

Now if only you can make an update to make the automation values corespond with the delay time slider, so I can adjsust the shorter delay times in 'read' mode with the Hyper Draw..
If a user wanted the values of the delay really long they could set that amount in the min/max box.
The values of the slider and the automation amounts should corespond.
This way if someone only wanted say 5 sec's max, they can still use the 'read' automation and make adjustment rather than just go from 0 and the next value be 28 sec's.

Would really open up more creative posibilties for freaky stuff.

That would be gravy, but I'm not complaining ;)

See v2.0.3, now released.

However, it must be said that Logic's parameter automation still sucks. It applies rounding to the values - meaning in the case of the delay times that you can't set a value except in steps of 0.1 seconds.

If this is a problem for you I suggest you complain to Apple - I have!

cheers,
os.
